Well just thought I’d post an update on how our trip went.
As expected the Friday traffic was pretty bad, I recon we lost about an hour due to this. However, I took the advice on here and went M54, A41. As soon as we got on the A41 we had a clear run all the way up to Chester. We stopped at The Chestnut Tree just off J9 on the M6 as recommended by a few of you guys. Nice family pub and food was pretty good, so thanks for that guys. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Chester West, which was very nice. Good rooms with comfy beds, and a great all you can eat breakfast.
Chester Zoo itself is a fantastic place, a really great day out, and was well worth the long trip up.
On the way home on Saturday we stopped at a Beefeater on the A41, and the food here was lovely. Got back home in Bridgwater at about 20:30 on Saturday night, all feeling very tired. We all had a great time and the kids were really good considering the long drive each way.
Sunday was rewarded with a nice lie in! Even our daughter who is five slept in until 10:00!
