i’m going to truckfest southeast might see you there not going to miss that oh post the f88 photos i haven’t got any of them. its a shame the fh16 where white the green and red barrios colours looked good on them f16 :sunglasses:

This Was My First Truck As An O/D a 290 F88… Reg SLN 66R…Bought it and Subbed om Mairs out of Tilbury…this was taken at Exeter Services around 1984 I think… I had been down to Goon Hilly Downs near Lizard Point To Deliver Some Of The Satellite Equipment Being Installed There.

You probably aint that far wrong Carl…i came across some old bills/invoices a little while ago and im sure it said that Derv was 24ppl :open_mouth:

I will try and dig them out to work out what i was getting paid pence per mile

This is one of my vast collection of Barrio photos. This F88 was driven by the late Dave Raynes, and was the first new lorry bought by Barrios. Many more F88s soon followed but i think they were all second hand, this motor is now owned by Robinsons of Sandy and has been fully restored, and looks fantastic!! Split would be proud!!

Here she is looking as good as new.

A few scanned pics of some of my Dad’s old motors…

Any ideas where this is you Suffolk boys??

Rushall Lime pit. Many a summer day in here playing with the loading shovel…

Plasmor, Lowestoft

RHM Trafford Park

Tannington had F53 YOX after Cobbald’s via Humphrey’s iirc

Not guilty!

And lastly a very dodgy pic of Aros Lines’ (Dorothy Bowles) F10 Globetrotter, along with another of her F10/12’s, and an RvH F10/12

Well thats presumably the norwich - london railway line next to the yard seeing as it’s electric. So is it the back of Muntons at Stowmarket??

Spot-on mate, 10 golden hour points! Brewers grains hoppers, not sure if they’re still there as i’ve not been that way recently, guess they are though. Last time i loaded out of them myself was about 5 years ago now.

Shows what a sad case I am…

James & Son who run some very tidy orange Scanias and a Magnum on bulk keep their trucks round the back there. They are in the old Bacton Transport livery.

Ah right. The latter part of the time Dad was with Cobbald’s before David packed it in, he was subbying for James full time. I think James took on all the local contracts Cobbald’s had out of Muntons. In fact there was even talk of dad buying the last K-reg and trailer he drove and carrying on, but dad decided against it, much to my disappointment at the time! James now come into our place with pallets for whichever network they’re with. A tidy new black premium 4-wheeler, and a new premium artic recently.

Roger,
Where were Cobbalds based out of?

Homersfield originally mate, then moved over to the farm in Mellis around mid-80’s iirc, where a few of the pics were taken. Over the road from Multiyork, alongside that very same rail line …actually, it probably would’ve been a quicker route to Muntons if you knew the rail timetable  Had Seddon’s, Atkinson 6-wheeler’s, Seddon Atkinson 8-wheeler, various F7 rigids and units, Scania 80, various FL’s and the F10. Dad was with them for the best part of 30 years. I’ll have to drag him on here, he’d love your A45 thread. He did a lot of work on those stretches you’re talking about when they were building it. He’s mastered eBay so shouldn’t take too much transition training
