Some here that have been restored and are regulars on the rally scene.
hello lads, here’s a photo of my first ‘proper’ lorry,YRP 64S.i drove for Carryfast at North Kilworth,Leics.1980-6 until the depot closed .she had a Gardner 180,DB box with Eaton 2-speed.as a young lad driving her,i felt king of the road! doubt if she has survived

I used to load out of Convoy’s for Brum late 70’s early 80’s, bring back roping and sheeting I say.
EH? Not for me thanks. I learned the job and I did it many years ago, but things have moved on, I couldn’t do it now, throwing soaking wet sheets about, struggling with frozen ropes, and that great leveler, Arthritis. no , it’s a skill you never forget, but nowadays it’s only rarely required.
Hello Sniffy,
Blimey, your picture of the 400 at Burtonwood takes me back. The demo was my baby, lovingly prepared
and looked after by me, it was a Fuller range change, spent hours at the Burtonwood show showing off to my friends
by driving up and down the runway in it, i was only 21 at the time and worked in the sales office at Rylands.
I hated the demo going out because 9 times out of ten it would come back in looking like a tramp had lived in it, annoyed me
greatly. The Big Cam 290 was a fabulous engine, way ahead of others at the time. Can you remember whether the sales
director was Jack Horsford or Jack Green ?
You don,t have any other pictures of it do you ?
Regards
Peter Gandy
supercube,i live in maltby south yorkshire your mention of bg transport reminded me of a picture i have seen in british lorries of the sixties page 42 its a seddon diesel 12-4 luton van from the london depot,i cant put it on because my scanner is not working.I have been told they used to park the vans in the yard behind wincantons on rotherham road many years ago before it was e butler and sons.Depots in london, manchester and rotherham, the reg no is 902 hbu.I will put the photo on when i get a new scanner.

Snap! Only this ones 1/24th scale, nicest version of the Cab Panels design I always thought and epitomises’ the classic British haulage scene of the time. Cheers Franky.

This one looks like an artists impression or has anyone ever seen one of these.
I noticed recently on page four of The Big Lorry Blog that this photo appeared and the question was asked if anybody knew anything about it. Well it seems that one was made for the 1958 commercial motor show but as they received no orders for it they dismantled it. They did make a rigid version and there is a photo of it on page four of the Big Lorry Blog, apparently it was called a Seddon Sirdar.
I remember as a kid seeing a few Seddons (and Atkinsons) in the old dark colours of British Aluminium. Am sure they were rigids with quite long dropside bodies, poss tippers.

Adrian Cypher is the person responsible for taking some of these pictures. I know through Bubbleman I am submitting images of Roger Kenney’s work on the Scrapbook Memories thread but a glass should also be raised to Adrian for the great pictures he has taken over the years. A generous and unselfish individual who deserves much credit for his recording of the commercial road transport scene over the past 50 odd years.
