“Welcome to Trucknet UK,any questions ask away”…or maybe not!

If you want to be picky, there’s a New and Wannabe truckers forum, this is The UK Professional Drivers Forum.
Questions like - Do I have to take a break if I do 2.5hrs driving, 3hrs other work, 4hrs driving - really do not belong in here.
Because, if you don’t know the answer to that, you’re not a Professional Driver, you’re a New or Wannabe (most likely a wannabe)
Is it people “genuinely” asking stupid questions, or people “pretending” to be stupid, asking questions ■■?

DCPC conspiracy. that’s what it is.
True but there is still one question I’m not sure of. It is when I pull over to take a P does that count as other work ■■ Am I even aloud to take a P would be more the question ■■?

you are not aloud to take a pee.
but you are aloud to take the pee.

This is exactly why i don’t ask questions, we cant know everything but the likes of some of you we are expected to know everything.
Really getting the impression a lot of truck drivers arn’t really that sociable.

What gives you that idea? Not like they take a job where they’re going to be in a cab on their own for the majority of their time??
It’s the REALLY daft and basic questions that this topic is about

it got dark, so i called daf aid.
My truck doesn’t work in the dark. I’ve got a little lever next to the steering wheel marked “D” and “N”. “D” stands for “Day” and it works then, “N” stands for “Night” but when you put it into that position the truck won’t move, it just revs and revs.

mine has a spanish gearbox. it won’t work at all.
A bit like the Italian gearbox, 16 reverse gears but no forward.

Does anyone else think that this could be a result of H&S bullpoo,
Eer no not in the case of trucknet I’m afraid - Its more a case of old drivers who are so far up their own self righteous backsides that feel the need to belittle every question that a newbie may ask

You really shouldn’t be allowed to take any type of pee

no it isn’t.
what have you been reading? you certainly havn’t a clue what we’re getting at.
new drivers should know the basics. they should in fact be far more educated than the rest of us.
we havn’t always had a written test, or the dcpc. but they have.
we should be asking them.

Total rubbish - There are many new drivers that do not need their DCPC before 2014 just the same as many more experienced drivers.
As always its the oldskool ■■■■■■■■ of “We hit the road knowing everything”. Well you didn’t - You learn’t like everyone else by asking and making mistakes and learning from that. The trouble with this forum is that it makes the asking almost impossible as the answers received must put most newbies off. ■■■■■■■ shame as experience should be passed on and not used as a ■■■■■■■ weapon like this place
total crap. before i got my hgv licence i knew you could drive for 4.5 hours before needing a break.
i didn’t get a licence, then learn the basic regs. did you?
i had a heck of a lot to learn, but i knew the basics.
What exactly would you use this forum for if not to ask questions and share information?
I know what the opening poster was getting at, some of the questions are basic in the extreme, that is to say any driver who has just obtained his/her licence really should have known the answer to some of those questions in order to pass the theory test.
However, some obtain their licence, keep it there unused for years, and by the time they want to start driving it all a dim and distant memory so they do exactly the right thing in my view, they ask!
What gets me isn’t the basic questions, its the mightier than thou smart mouthed replies from a few who seem to think it is beneath their level of expertise to simply answer the question. The majority however, remain true to the spirit of the forum and go out of their way to try and help. Long may you continue to do so as I for one read much and learn plenty just by visiting here.

I’ve met many a driver who struggles with basic English and maths but can put a trailer blind side where ever you want it.
But I guess you would reckon that these drivers are thick idiots who can’t use a search engine or grasp the basic foundations of driver regs - well guess what they come on here asking questions that they need answers too only to be met with ■■■■■ like you - I would suggest that you answer their questions professionally or shut the ■■■■ up.
complete crap.
