Been asked by a fellow member if I had any brick lorries at hand, and not wanting to disappoint, her are a few I’ve found close at hand !
Ex brickie now on fair duties.
Not a brickie,but very similar !
Brilliant stuff!!!
Excellent stuff BD, The Redland Fodens especially,as my dad used to drive them at Kempston Hardwick near Bedford in the 60’s
BD when i was a apprentice fitter it was at a brick company in sandbach and James Bennett used to sub for them but they only had seddon 4 wheelers then.do you have any pic’s of there seddons please
we wont see any like that again
A nice collection! Im trying to remember where George Armitage’s were based? but all them names bring back memories, we ran into brick yards very often, steetley’s up at Stoke and Ravenhead, also the old blues out of Baggeridge, not to mention London Brick but a lot of small works as well. Then there was Jacksons in Stockport ect the list goes on!
Borderer - It’s been a good few years but I’m sure George Armitage’s main works was Howden near Leeds If I remember you had to run up a hill between a row of cottages and the works was on the top of the hill.
This Baggeridge Guy might bring back a few memories
i’m lovin these old photos, tryin to work out where some of
them were taken.
Great old GUY there Lemon! Correct me if Im wrong, did Baggeridge have a plant at Dosthill as well? I do remember going into Armitages’s but it was a long time ago and I dont remember the place, but the photo jogged me memory! Aint a bad job on the bricks really.
was just wondering whose was the foden with the fairground stuff looks like they are parked in a winter yard
Borderer - Baggeridge still have a works at Kingsbury which I think used to be called Dosthill, but their main works I think is Sedgley, wolverhampton. when I was on the bricks I used to cart mainly from their other yards at Hartlebury and the newer works at Waresley.
I think this was taken before Barry Proctor was their main Haulier
This was taken in Park Royal in 1999
Cheers for that LM, i notice the Fodens got the old brick forks, god I had some trouble with them on one motor, the Hiab kept dropping because of bad seals nad it was a nightmare to try and steady it while aiming the forks!
Why has the routeman got a metro parked on its roof? most drivers used to put ropes and sheets up on the roof!
