Today’s Tube strike isn’t about money!

NO ITS about sticking together and not getting [zb] in the arse SHAME A FEW ON HERE DONT but as long as they got A SHINY truck hey

I don’t care what anybody says, a modern day Tube driver is NOT worth a starting salary of over £49K for a 36 hour week & 43 days holiday.

Now the tubes catching up with other major cities and going 24/7, does this mean salaries have to go up even more? £60K? Where does it end? There needs to be a shake up and these drivers need their wings clipping & a reality check, as it’s extorting the taxpayer & tube users out of an absolute bloody fortune.

Fair to say that on their already excessive salaries, I’m not overly sympathetic towards their dismay at having to work some unsociable shifts. These are hardly low/middle paid workers getting shafted by greedy bosses.

Tin hat on

please dont fall into the media trap ITS NOT JUST THE DRIVERS its the CLEANERS STATION STAFF etc etc all of which gavetheir all on 7/7 to help driverless trains couldnt do that !!! but ITS ABT changes to your contract by stealth STILL if your willing to do it i suppose we are all up the river in uk sooner rather than later YOUR BOSS coming in on monday to make you work nights for 2 weeks then days then lates then nights plus 17 weekends ENJOY :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

Harry Monk:
Doesn’t seem a lot when you consider that you’d be hard pushed to buy a two bedroom terraced house for less than £500,000 in the parts of London where the tube depots are located.

The Con logic goes along the lines cut their wage to less than £20,000 then provide them with a state subsidised high rise one bedroom flat built in Surrey’s green belt. While just as the Cons can be better Socialists than the unions when it suits them, the Unions ‘can’ be better Capitalists than the Cons, just so long as its the ‘right’ job although they’ll still want Surrey’s housing stock for Londoners. :unamused:

still be plenty muppets on here working for it UP THE TUBE DRIVERS :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably, but what kind of ‘muppet’ is it that goes to his boss and actually asks for a pay cut?

Good point. Or, he may be quite financially savvy. I imagine that it’s a bit of a quandary for certain folk who are hovering around just under the supertax bracket and then they get offered a pay rise.

It is how it is.

I have no idea what kind of living standards are up north, but here in surrey rent is 1000 if you lucky. 1300 is standard rate.

30k Wages will not feed your kids. 15£ h is manageable but less is a bankrupt, unless you live with your mum.

I cant image any one driving for less. The numbers simply doesn’t add up.

Here in norfolk most are only offering minimum wage now

I long ago reached the conclusion that being an owner driver was more or less the only realistic option of being able to combine the cost of living here with the job.Unless living with parents or possibly living in a zb place in one of the less attractive parts of the County. While even then it probably won’t be a locally based job owing to the housing development value potential of transport yards. Many of the few of which we had are already now housing estates for London commuters including even ex local authority ones like my ex council employers’.

You southerners are ■■■■■■■ mugs. Good enough for the lot of you.

It always cheers me up when I see how much it costs to live in the south, if your dumb enough to live there then ■■■■ it up & pay the price. Personally I wouldn’t live outside the North East, a place you can get a decent paying job & buy a house for a realistic price. By house I mean a proper house, with three bedrooms, gardens etc, not half a million fo a garage. 50k for driving a train, I wouldn’t live or work there for twice that.

The ‘South’ is a generalisation which could could cover anywhwere between Lands End and Bristol to Essex. The problems are really mostly in the areas most subject to the London commuter and immigration effect. That issue mostly being driven by NIMBY’s in the Norf etc wanting to turn the South East into an over developed over populated zb hole to keep their own areas under developed under populated wastelands.Meanwhile yes the Norf can be a lot cheaper to live at least in terms of housing costs. However to many of us,just like the Norf is to others, the Saf East is home where we were born and raised etc etc. While it isn’t ( yet ) a totally over developed over populated lost cause. However at that point,if I wanted to move to a foreign alien place,it would be somewhere nicer, with better weather and countryside than the zb Norf of Britain.Like Switzerland or South Eastern France.Oh wait. :smiling_imp: :open_mouth:

Dan ze Man:
Im just wondering, if 50-70% Driving jobs are on 9£ h in 5 years drivers will be on minimum wage?

Iw seen class 1 on 9£ rates. :open_mouth: F00kin Madness. :open_mouth:

In my opinion ( my alone ) in 5 years rates should be around or over 20£ h. 20£ -30£ Range. Maybe. Any one working below 15£ is and will be a mug.

Regards.

it’ll not be long before im paying my customers to deliver there stuff :unamused:

Yes, that’s the way it works, we in the north don’t want you suvveners coming up here so you lot, being good little people, stay down there! Nimbys my arse! Proving once again you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.
Get yourself over to France, I’m sure your mate le pen would be only too happy to take on another non working foreigner.

It’s obvious that I’m not intending to move up there. But I was thinking mnore along the lines of some new towns built in the wastelands of North Yorkshire,■■■■■■■ and Northumbria etc.To take their fair share of the immigrant population and extend Manchester and East Midlands airports to provide the same existing ‘combined’ runway capacity as Heathrow,Stansted,Luton and Gatwick and then make the airlines use it.Amongst other plans.

Phew! What a relief.
It’s not a case of building new houses up here, you cannot make people go to somewhere they don’t want to go, the current immigration situation should make that obvious. People have always flocked to the capital & its environs and long may that last. Given the choice of moving to one of your, so called, wastelands or the bright lights of the capital what would you choose? I for one tell everyone I don’t like to move south.
Let’s face it, no self respecting illegal immigrant is going to voluntarily go anywhere but London & the south. More chance of work, better cash, better class of slum, more people to turn a blind eye to any unexpected new “family” members turning up, and tbh, they stick out like a turd on a billiard table up here.

I was actually referring to the idea of not giving them the choice. By not following the NIMBY Norverners plans to concrete over the South East to save their barren under developed under populated hillsides. With the win win situation that it would meet targets for areas not affected by potential flooding. While simple economics says why work down here for the same pittance as they can get up there when it will buy somewhere to live there instead of a cardboard box here if they are lucky.

Isn’t Bradford “up there”?

Alternatively we could keep the status quo, whereby we stay up here working for peanuts & living in holes in the ground, while you keep all the newcomers to run your burger vans & kebab shops. Works for me.
If they can get from Afghanistan to the UK they wouldn’t have much trouble getting from the terrible North down to the glorious south now would they, not when we bus them in for you anyway. Also works for me.

No surprise it sounds like the Norf is all for loads of immigration just so long as it’s kept down here.A bit like their ideas on air ports provision and development in general. While your idea won’t work being that the government says that it wants people to work where they live.Which in this case means developing those barren northern wastelands and providing the infrastructure for same.If Cameron is right it should turn the North into the new China. :unamused:

I agree with those that argue in a decades time - we’ll all be on the streamlined new LGV rate of £200 per week, and those of us still in the business will have moved to places like Magyar so that is enough to live on.

With the high earners in society paying less tax under the Tories they’ve duly elected - they’ll be no one paying enough tax to pay for everything infrastucture-wise in society.

Que the total collapse of the common good.
It’ll be everyone out for themselves, and those “haves” - will be keeping their fingers crossed that the huge rise in petty crime will be “happening to some other guy” rather than them that so richly deserve all that’s coming to them.

You can’t run an economy where all the “well paid jobs” are about moving paperwork and cash from A to B - rather than the physical goods we actually need from day to day.

Just pray that Le Pen will throw a grenade into the whole zb banker driven scam and bring it all down. :bulb:

A big Amen to that !! :smiling_imp: (Can you tell that I hate banksters !■■) …
