Snooper or tom tom truck nav test

please does any one have the access too either of these , the reason i ask is i had a very squeaky botty moment on thursday in the village of cossal NG16 2RX . EITHER way in its extremely tight for a artic but too come through the village i nearly made the newspapers , when i arrived EVENTUALLY SHAKEN AND STIRRED at the delivery point after asking a lady on HORSEBACK if i could access it , the recipient then said OH IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME THE VILLAGERS WILL NOW PHONE AND COMPLAIN YOU SHOULD HAVE COME IN THE OTHER WAY ,mind you he says ITS NOT MUCH BETTER ,incidentally another artic in their yard had just done the same thing .SO back too my original question can anyone test this on a truck sat nav and post last 4 access roads on here too see if it routes correctly.

is that post code right.
what was the delivery address

er I THINK SO try robinettes lane cossal my access was church lane mill lane robinettes lane

NG 16 2RX MY APPOLOGIES

Nottingham NG16 2RX, UK - Google Maps

thought i was losing it there…post code was a fair few miles away…anyhow.you been lucky…next time come off A 609 then onto cossal road…my navigator says same route as yours. but i double checked and also have the benefit of google earth…well done though at least no one knows you went that way…and i wont say anything…

sorry forgot to add…M1 j26—A 610 to notts—A 6002 to Strelley—right at junc onto A 609…that way you go over the railways…

OK diggertony what sat nav do you have as i need too see if the trucknavs guide correct way before purchasing one , by the way i was abused by the villagers and helped by the police as sign said except for access , copper told me too go out the route you posted

mines a tomtom 300 quite old i know…all i did was use your info ie postcode/address and looked at the route…cross checked on google earth…looked a bit twisty so looked for alternative…its just what i always do and it works for me…you can even see artics on the route on google earth which is a good indication…

i use a sat nav, but i don’t rely on it.
i look at the sat nav map, then cross reference this with my map, if it looks too dodgy, i phone the place up and ask which is the best way in.

oh thought you had trucknav IF ANY ONE ELSE CAN TRY THIS CODE ON A TRUCK NAV IT WILL BE APPRECIATED N162RX

If I remember, I’ll have a look next week. I’m still running both TomTom and Snooper side by side cos Snooper is sometimes crap.

my sat nav and my map agree.

junction 26 m1. down the a6002, turn right towards the m1, turn left, then right.

My TomTom Truck says no truck route found, what vehicle dimensions you runnin’ as I’m set for 15’5 44ton?

I’ll be honest though, they’re great for avoiding low bridges, but after that, same as any other sat nav, keep eyes open, use common sense and don’t be afraid to ask…

Nope, according to the stupid item that is TomTom Truck, there’s no truck route, so you mustn’t have been there

Must say though, the car route on my tomtom is A609, Right Cossall Road, Right Robinettes Lane, Left Unnamed Road

Oh, a silly point about the Tomtom truck, the latest truck map (8.40) seems to think that a lot of industrial estates are no entry for hgv, and map corrections doesn’t seem to cure it.

Trying to find out if there’s a way round it as we speak, but just a heads up :sunglasses:

That is why they are no good for drivers who have to go through weight limits etc, I have a road train doing removals and 1/2 the places I go to are likely to have “no truck route” so I may as well save my money and get the cheaper Tom Tom when my current one goes ■■■■ up.
I would guess the same problem would arise with farm delivery trucks as well

Agreed 100%

Luckily, my tomtom is a standard 1 that’s had the truck software (tomtom truck - NOT any of the 3rd party crap) put onto it.

I certainly wouldn’t be paying hundreds for a ‘truck sat nav’ when a standard 1 with a memory card and a few hrs will do the same thing and you’d realise how pi55ed off you’d have been if you’d wasted hundreds of hard earned.

What’s a weight limit?
