Smugglers on ITV1 now

should be interesting.

Watching, enjoying it.

SHH! I’ve got it V+'d for 10 o’clock

I wonder where they got their tin opener from?? Could do with something like that when I’m opening a tin of beans.

need a couple more boxes on the trailer checksheet methinks.

Rather surprising knowing how happy our French friends are to lock up drivers found with drugs in their load, that they sent the Rumo on his way in his unit - not suggesting he necessarily knew the crack, bu unless he was trailer swapping in UK or Ireland he’d have to suspect something?

What would they do with the banana’s they took from the trailer with the drugs on? Do they contact the supplier and arrange further transport to destination or destroy them?

It’s an industrial spec one. You can try catering companies and the like to get one

They destroy it all, just in case they’ve missed anything.

Only 5 Custom`s patrol ships for the UK coast line, how many miles is the whole of the coast line, then divide by 5,that gives the smugglers a window of opportunity, and a secret away too.
Should have gone to Gibraltar, about 5 years ago, speed boats, running the gauntlet, and young teenagers running around in expensive motors, all flash with their cash.
Too true, about the French Douanes, anything found,it is bye bye, straight to jail card is dealt.

There is 12,000 miles of coastline that is patrolled, bit of a joke really isn’t it?

If the tax on tobacco was reduced there would not be the massive smuggling problem plus people would buy from UK shops (50% of all rolling tobacco is smuggled) and there would be a massive money saving in the number of customs bods at the ports - it’s a winner all ways you look at it except that this or any other UK gvt are just too stupid to see further than the ends of their noses!

The banana trailer would be sold at auction,as they can confiscate any vehicle used to smuggle with, maybe the customer collected the fruit at their own expense, customs dont have to put back together equipment that they have disamantled.

No it isn’t. If the tax is reduced on baccy it will be increased elsewhere? That’s how the system works and the same also applies to fuel, obviously!

Well not exactly, if the tax was reduced then people would not buy smuggled baccy and would use UK shops which would more than outweigh the tax loss by increased sales and increased (although initially) reduced tax, also you don’t find people smuggling fuel.

Tosh.

That Rumo rang a bell. After dropping off the load his next job was to go to a secure location & drop the trailer before they could unload the drugs. My mate came into Harwich with groupage he picked up in Holland & the rummagers found a cache of gear hidden amongst it. They told him that they knew he was innocent . He spent 6 months in Norwich jail before his trial came up& lost his truck - Oh, yeah ,forgot to tell you, he was English!

What annoyed me was that the ship carrying sugar from Jamaica was let go once they had found the cannisters of dope, as the crew knew nothing about it so, what is the difference if we end up loading something that is properly/proffesionally concealed in a product inside a sealed trailer?
ie, hidden at a factory in frozen squid or cast into concrete pipes or, as in the case of the 2 trailers that they showed being spun out in Dover, ■■■■ properly sealed into cans of coffee.

maybe not at the present time, but in the not too distant past fuel has been smuggled, and bunkered/sold on in the uk, especially if there is a fuel protest going on,lol
As for the assumption by HMRC or who ever makes these deluded assumptions that those who bring large quantities of tobacco products in to the uk are doing the greedy legal elected mafia (aka government) out of it’s cut, on sales in the uk, this is completely unfounded,as in reality if people who smoke (the ones that buy from outside uk) could no longer access cheap booty, they would most probably quit, that’s what i did over 12mths ago, cause i ain’t prepared to pay uk prices , so it’s irrelevant , the government lie to justify there actions, from eu countries there is no limit on tobacco products or booze, only guidelines(which is the max that they would like everyone to bring in)
But if you hide it,and lie about the quantity if stopped and questioned then you are smuggling
