I don, t smoke in the cab and dont care if anyone else does. But nervously vape like a trooper slyly in case some wet blanket grasses me up.
Good thing about vaping is that it leaves no tell tale signs apart from a fruity whiff depending on the flavour choice.
To combat this risk I am dabbling with a trucker flavour of stale BO, wet hot eggy ■■■■■ and a hint of dried ■■■■…
How does the smoking ban apply if you do regular nights out in the same lorry? Technically its not only a workplace, but your home!
Selfish ignorant people smoke in fleet trucks. I will always refuse to drive one as its very obvious to a non smoker, I don’t make a song and dance about it though just pick up another set of keys.
Not exactly a truck but my work place has no smoking signs and I live in it for a minimum of three weeks at a time, it’s against the law blah blah blah and even when the boss man came on board he complained. He was told the same ‘‘if you don’t like it, stay ashore. If smoking is allowed by law in prisons and mental institutions why the hell is it banned in this nut house’’ …

sadly it was just one of the rules in the game that has made me quit the job, smokeing ban, digi card, drivers acting like big girls, and snitching on others etc poland invasion and finaly the good old cpc card

Quite timely this thread coming up today after I’ve just had to spend 13hours in a ■■■ ash infested cab with sticky controls. Unfortunately as I’m on agency I don’t get to stamp my feet and get a different unit but I did make my feelings known. Every time I shut the door it rained down ash from the trim above. There is no excuse for this in the modern age and I’m sorry but those that think it is just shows why lorry drivers are unskilled manual workers - no personal responsibility !!
So you are not allowed to smoke but its ok to breath diesel fumes for hours on end and live in less space than a death row prisoner in Istanbul?

Agency driver or not, you are fully within your rights to refuse a vehicle that smells like an ashtray.
If they send you home, you will get 8 hours but probably not be invited back.
That’s where the regulations fail the non smokers.
Im glad i got out of this game…what next…go into a greasey spoon and ask for a green salad…suppose nancy boys drive trucks…not lorries.

I don´t know all the laws in Uk, but i´m surprised when i read this …

And if it´s a general law , does this law concern only english drivers or drivers who works in UK or is it the same for Drivers from other countries?

So because I dont want to jump into a unit that stinks like an ashtray, and still stink of it when I get home, this makes me a “Nancy Boy Trucker?” It’s the LAW, so because I don’t break (or condone breaking) the law, does this make me a nancy boy trucker? Am I even more of a Nancy boy trucker because I stick to 40 on a S/C? Probably

I am not on about a bit of ■■■ ash and “an alleged smell”. I am talking about getting into a unit that ■■■■ ing stinks, I had a unit 2 days in a row, Day 1, stinks and ran with windows open. Day 2, noticed vehicle hadn’t moved, tacho showed 12 hours stationary and it STILL stunk of cigarettes.
You won’t realise how bad the units smell until you give up or if you have never smoked.
