Slow slow slow stobarts/tesco wagon

Someone driving too slow is equally as dangerous as someone driving too fast.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I always thought it was the impatient fools behind who were the dangerous ones. You live and learn! Well, some of us do…

Nope, you don’t :smiling_imp:

Correction. YOU DON’T! :stuck_out_tongue:

This is 1 of the few countries in the world where drivers treat cyclists like 2nd class citizens or even lesser users of the carriageways :unamused:

I certainly agree with what you with this point. There does need to be a big change in attitude towards cyclists amongst motorists as they aren’t going away, they are fully fledged road users whether people like it or not.

However, on the subject of cyclists on NSL dual carriageways, I think there comes a point where a cyclist is prioritising exercising their rights over sheer common sense & looking after their own safety. I find it barmy that somebody would choose to ride their bike down a busy high speed DC, rightly or wrongly the risk is just too high - whether it’s legal or not is irrelevant.

Why, it’s a wider road with extra lanes and even usually something akin to a hard shoulder.
Only 10mph higher speed limit than a country road.

So we’re impatient when doing 35 in a NSL road with good conditions, because Tom and Doris in their Rover 25 are ambling to their local garden centre? It’s not that the daft old git hasn’t got the reactions anymore to go faster.

Losing 5mph shouldn’t kill you? But then, you do have your three loads a day to get in and you’re pushed for time are you not? See where the real problem is…?

But why the need to poodle about being a nuisance to everyone? Other people have more to do with their lives than ■■■■ Werthers originals, ■■■■ themselves and visit day centres. Drivers behind assume it’s me holding up traffic, shoot past me realise their mistake and anchor up in what was a safe gap between me and the coffin dodgers.
Anyway I did my 3 today at 40mph after my first was tipped locally.

Maybe they could fit flashing orange beacons to the rear of the trailer like the farmers.

+1, good idea I think for those incapable if keeping up with the flow of traffic/90kmh:!:

Unfortunately some drivers have very little skill.

True, hence so many collisions…!

A motorway only has a speed limit 10mph higher than a country road & they have a proper hard shoulder, are you suggesting cyclists should be allowed on them? A NSL dual carriageway is essentially a motorway, people drive on them in the same fashion.

For clarity, the kind of DC I have in mind here is the A1/A14/A55 etc. major trunk routes. You would not catch me riding a pedal bike down them for love no money.

This post points up the need for a minimum limit on motorways.

And that wouldn’t be 56mph. More sort of 35 - 40 mph

xamtex:
speed limits are a maximum speed not a target speed!..every mph faster i go im losing money as an hourly paid driver, and of course im trying to hit my feul bonus(which has little to do with speed…keep it in the green,no harsh braking, minimum idling and use cruise control and a fiver a shift is in my pocket).
if you want to go faster on the motorway pass me…if you want to do 56 on a single carriageway tough…i have a clean licence and try to keep it that way…why is everyone in such a rush?..trucks nose to tail…cutting in so close in front? no wonder there are so many trucks running into the back of the traffic in front?..chill out…stay safe…get home in one peice to your families?

The funniest thing about it that those in constant rush do not realize that they undercut the job. In unsafe manner of course.

Got to agree with contraflow on this on prior planning and preparation prevent ■■■■ poor performance
