Slow Foreigners?

In the last month or so I have been overtaking more and more foreign trucks on the motorway. Being a regular user of the M20/25 I’m used to being passed by them often, but all of a sudden they seem to be slowing down? Not quite shopping trolley speeds, but enough for me to pass comfortably. My truck runs at 55 indicated on the sat nav and hasn’t changed. I still get the odd one fly past but on the whole I’m now the one passing them.

Anyone else noticed this? Has there suddenly been a crackdown on speeds in Europe?

Must admit even I’ve passed a few lately. Not very often I venture into the middle lane unless it’s roadworks

Yep Ive noticed it on the M2/A2. I’ve also noticed a significant increase in trucks being tugged by vosa in the area too

I’ve been told that they get money taken out of their wages if they use more fuel than they are ‘supposed to’ on their runs. So they drive slowly.

Did you hear that in an RDC from a bloke with chalk on his tyre?

Edit: Sorry I forgot to mention thinking of the slow foreigner’s slow children. Job done.

TAXI!

A few years ago I think that was the case with the Dutch boys. don’t know if it’s still the same now.

i heard from a bloke who just missed the herald ferry that they drive slow becouse of the sas training

Gaaaaaah! I was going to say that, but the bloke who’s mate kicked the ministry man’s front door in and threatened him with kneecapping if he pulled one of his lorries again, has just come round for a cuppa.

Drat.

They may be watching a film on their computer or a dvd,i have seen drivers playing card games on their computer while driving.
A while ago a TN member posted why foreign drivers have two or more sat navs, they may have one,and all the other gadgets are their computers that they can receive their reload locations to save the phone bill.
Going slower may be due to lack of regular maintenance,as some are away from base for months on end,and the engine is due an oil change.

some are taking this fuel saving malarky to extremes. one polish bloke drove on the wrong side of the motorway to save fuel. another got wedged in a bath to save fuel. but that may have been, he got wedged in bath. but that’s not important. the important thing is, he was foreign, so he must be inferior to us british.
the best way anyone can save money, is by not coming to england.

A lot of these ex commy block countries MOTs are a joke i know for a fact in 1 Country they just go to the local garage that does MOTs and collect a new document the vehicle never sees the garage,as with my car when i lived in this country i would go to garage and this is not a wind up they would walk around the car i am certain they counted the wheels then put your headlights on check them but not the rear and that was it passed and this Country is EU,
But as you know these Eastern Block boys are mostly mechanics they have to be to keep some of the motors running .
When i was sat at dover the other week on the big sign it said 5,000 plus trucks had been through the port the day before how many of these where British trucks just think how much the UK could earn per day charging for this amount of trucks using the roads we would not need private enterprise to operate toll roads this would generate a large amount of cash to help build better roads

MOT in some country more strong for british MOT,OR VERY SEVERAL RLES.AND IF polish driver drive via germany. But Germany Vosa more strong for british

i know it appears like a bit of a dodgy system, but like you say, most of the eastern block lads are time served mechanics, and i don’t mean fitters like in the UK. so maybe there is an element of trust.
although i don’t like the idea of everyone from everywhere settleing in the UK, i would prefer an eastern bloc mechanic to work on my vehicle, than a modern day useless ■■■ of a british fitter.

Went South the M1 Yesterday Noon.
At Junction 10 a police Car
2 Miles later the Vosa next to me who joined another Vosa Van at Junction 9
Few Miles further a Police Car checking a Car and after Junction 8 2 more police Cars checking another Car
Its the Nice Weather,i think

I always thought it was because they don’t like overtaking as they may side swipe a car in their blind spot so keep it below top speed.

Couldn’t put it better myself.

Yes, that’s true.

A bloke told me that in a Lidl RDC in Hannover. The BAG had coned off the entire building to allow him to have a break because VOSA had emailed them about him having 44 minutes break before he got on the boat and failed to show a movement onto the vessel using ferry mode. Luckily he had been in SGS-9 and was able to tell them about the scar on Astrid Proll’s left breast, that being the code that all ex-members are given on (honourable only) discharge.

It’s true, I tell you.

That’s correct, stops them stealing and selling the diesel. most companies use an average use calculation for this.
It already was standard in the time of Hungarocamion. Very effective to get a good MPG out of the truck.
Hence the reason they would do 60km/h on the “Autobahn” to save fuel in their Liaz, Raba and Kamaz trucks.

Always been slow, they all use them ■■■■■■■ trailers which are garden fence and curtain sider hybrids which take days to take apart and rebuild, whats the point in having fencing panels if you are strapping the load anyway

Yes, thats true, about the fuel usage limit, usually it is 28-33L/100km, depending of the load weight it may change. In overall it is a good thing because it makes the driver think of the fuel usage, instead of just putting his foot flat to the floor.
