Slow Down Move Over Campaign

Signed and passed around…

Hopefully this may also educate other motorists in cars who give you abuse for jumping into lane 2 whilst passing the hazard.

Good campaign.
It does have one flaw though, you will never be able to educate crap for brains drivers.

The amount of times I have wanted to just move over a bit more and straddle 1+2 and the numpty in lane 2 just won’t budge.I can see lane 3 is clear (work at nights full time) so know he/she could easily straddle into 2+3 and give me room. But nope the peanut brained idiots don’t.I’ve even had those in lane 2 put a bit more of a squeeze on you which seems like an attempt to edge you closer to the problem or workers on the hard shoulder.

Whenever by some work of a miracle (trucks limited to 85kph) I find myself in lane 2 and have lane 3 next to me clear I will straddle them, flash the driver in lane 1 to say hey look I made you some space to move over a bit.Nope they don’t.
An awareness campaign aimed at drivers of all vehicles with brains as thick as bad porridge is going to be an uphill struggle.

Thanks for the support gents, and yes, this campaign is aimed at all motorists not just truckers.
To be fair, the professional truckers are the most likely to move over when they can.

‘…Can I please bring to your attention a new campaign that is running called Slow Down Move Over…’

What is wrong with our supposed law enforcer’s doing their job of enforcing laws that already exist

‘Campaigns’ are surely little more than wishy-washy nonsense when what is needed is proper leadership and guts from those that should be doing the job(s) that we are already paying them for.

FFS sake Britain - why not demand what we deserve from the faceless Muppets in Ivory Towers

There needs to be a massive education of drivers in this country, not just regarding this, but all aspects of everyday driving. I live on a main road that gets many ‘blues and two’s’ on it daily. The number of complete arses who just stop dead thinking they are being helpful when in actual fact, they impede the progress of the emergency vehicle is unbelievable. One came up behind me yesterday and there was traffic coming the other way, parked cars on my side and nowhere to pull over, so i gave it a little more speed (30 limit, ended up doing nearer 40 and if I have to, I’ll take my chances with a beak on it) until there was a gap to pull into, indicated and gassed it into the gap. The guy riding shot-gun put his thumb up as thanks, only for the car I had almost caught up to stop dead in the middle of the road whilst passing parked cars and stuff coming the other way! Stopped the ambulance for about 30 seconds!
Now, make this into a LAW, and I can see it causing massive issues with the average ■■■■■■ slamming the anchors on whilst on a motorway. Trucks can and have, sucked people out from the hard-shoulder, cars don’t have this problem and just maybe, expecting the average car driver, whom I hold in the lowest possible esteem, to adjust his/her driving and think at the same time, might prove too much for them to cope with.

DoYouMeanMe?:
‘…There needs to be a massive education of drivers in this country … The number of complete arses who just stop dead … Stopped the ambulance for about 30 seconds … Now, make this into a LAW…’

As suggested above, what’s wrong with pinging them with “obstruction” - which is already a ‘…law…’

Why the mad-rush into new stuff when we already have the tools in the cupboard: What the country is lacking is the guts/bottle/PC nous from our government & it’s agencies to apply them :exclamation:

Wheel Nut:
It makes as much sense as slowing down outside schools or slowing for horses and i have shared it over facebook and twitter and will share it on a couple of other sites I use

this really, should just be common sense. i’ve signed the petition, but think its probably more like “joe bloggs” general public that need to be made aware of this campaign, and properly educated.
“most” sensible lorry/commercial drivers know the crack, and drive accordingly, but we’ll only ever be remembered for the minority that don’t. i get the whole danger of the hard shoulder enviroment, and am always stressing this to all the members in my family. if you break down, get as far over to the left as possible, put your hazards on and come rain or shine, get out of the car and onto the embankment/behind the barrier etc.

as someone said earlier, (pat) i think. as proffesional drivers, we’ll normally spot a hazard or instruction well in advance, but joe bloggs will continue to take the ■■■■. my fave at the mo is, every night currently on my way back to basildon, i’ll be travelling on the m25 clockwise, and they are finishing up roadworks at various spots between j27 and j30, so everything filters into the 4th, (far right hand lane). the warning gantries, and big yellow roadwork signs give plenty of notice of this. i’ll move into said right hand lane at the 800yd marker board, and then watch as alot of the cars play “deathrace” as they all stick their toes down to undertake you, just to get infront before it all files into the one lane.
oh how i chuckle, as i see them gain a grand total of 1 lorry length for their death defying stunts.

You’ve recognised here that ‘sense’ is not ‘common’, so why wish for something that doesn’t - nor can ever exist as long as foreigners rule our country

Given very slack immigration policies enforced upon Britain by The Common Market, ‘common sense’, is ironically now a smashed-to-bits concept solely held by rose tinted spectacle wearers wistfully toasting the former benefits of their pre-EU past life experience.

The reality is that the UK is now diversely populated (courtesy of the EU and Blair’s immoral immigration pogrom, etc) because the UK consistently votes to remain entrenched within the diktats of the EU and it’s puppets - although the truth is that many Britons evidently can’t cope when realities directly occurring from it pee us off within our self-interest groups.

The ‘…Slow Down Move Over Campaign…’ is surely such an example of an anger-based pipe-dream of how we’d like to enjoy life on our terms :exclamation:

As long as pro-EU scare-mongers dictate the agenda, the EU will remain the coffee-drinking elephant ripping us off as we remain hypnotised by the Gravy Train commuters that tell us how good the EU is [sic] - when scant evidence otherwise exists and Britain remains afraid to enforce it’s existing road laws :exclamation:

That is why I earlier wrote ‘throw laws that already exist at the law breaker’s’.

It is obvious that going softly-softly with mincing ‘campaigns’ (no offence is intended - but please wake-up) waste both our time and our tax money, ie, the tiny fraction that isn’t demanded by Brussels already - but that’s what they want to keep our eyes off their next scam to control us :exclamation:

To what, ceiranc?

As a recovery driver covering motorways etc, i have signed petition and i am passing around via facebook.

Thanks for getting this campaign going,

What hope is there when the people that require protection actually put themselves at risk by their own actions?
Take for example today on the southbound M3, tipper driver from r&w pulls onto hard shoulder at minor works and straddles the white line between hard shoulder and live lane 1 then proceeds, without looking, to open his door and exit the cab into a LIVE lane :open_mouth:
Look after yourself cos no one else will :unamused:

Sounds like that guy was totally oblivious to the danger he was putting himself in.
Quite possibly the first time he’d tipped/loaded on the motorway.

alway do if i can last time on m6 north just after m55 did just that when got to sevices 2 x5s waitinfor me pulled me over car driver phoned to say i forced them onto lane 3 and i was wanderin over road now bought 12 volt cab camera to prove my guilt for the next time

I haven’t signed it or passed it around.

We have enough oppressive laws in the country as it is. Any driver with more than one brain cell in operation will see for themselves any danger and will move over accordingly “if safe to do so”.

If 999 response teams don’t feel safe working at the road side, they should put out traffic cones closing the nearside lane, or get another job.

berewic:

The problem lies in that if they will think that it’s unsafe to do so (or just don’ give a ■■■■) they will just carry on as usual. I always move over for the vehicles on the roadside and I feel I am in a minority…

Disagree with making this law.

You’d end up with motorists sitting in the middle lane constantly, even more than they already do or end up with even more accidents with drivers switching lanes rapidly or braking hard and swerving out to the middle lane.

What you need a law on is driver common sense.

ajt:
‘…Disagree with making this law … What you need a law on is driver common sense…’

Eh  How so within a society openly and often proudly stated by Government leaders telling us to accept being diverse or be a bigot?

Like oil and water, ‘common’ and ‘diverse’ don’t easily rub along too well together to the extent that old fashioned Britishness, ie ‘…common- sense…’ is no longer a solution to the muck that the Lib/Lab/Con has got us into in the name of EU expectation of us.
