What is it like trying to sleep with a fridge trailer, it is a nightmare within 100 yards of one on a truck stop so a few feet away must be impossible. Do you ever get used to the noise.
I tried. I couldn’t sleep at all with it running. I take my hat off to those who can.
If your tired enough you’ll sleep
I don’t do many nights out, but when I have done them I’ve not had a problem with the fridge - but I can sleep through anything if I’m tired.
You get used to the rhythm
When they go onto super-saver mode, I find myself waking up then - because it’s gone all quiet!
Fridges have come such a long way. Our new 44’ Schmitz CargoBulls have Carrier fridges that are really whisper-quiet - you can’t hear them at all when the truck engine is running.
Yeah I was gonna say the modern Carrier fridge is very smooth and quite easy to sleep through. It can also block out outside sounds that otherwise may disturb you. Only real problem then is hearing your alarm.

I never have a problem kipping with the fridge running, even if its an old 1.
as I found out today at ASDA wakefield, whilst in the queue, much to the anoyance of the guys in the queue behind me, as they ended up banging on the cab door to wake me as I was holding the queue up
cat nap anyone??

Nor can I, but thats a on off type noise. A smooth background noise is a lot easier.
I can sleep with a fridge on, get used to it after a while anyway.
I also find it easier to sleep with it on, when it is’nt on, i tend to hear all the stuff going on around me, like people talking/other noices and it always makes me feel weary of what there up, with the Fridge on you can only hear that, so i prefer it in some respects.
i slept with a fridge for a few years. then i got a new girlfriend

pmsl.
It’s not the noise that bothers me, it’s when the light keeps going on when people open the door.
I always loathed the noise of fridges, and often wondered how drivers slept through them, until I worked for Exel at Sherburn.
After a while, you become tuned into the noise and tend not to notice it.
Ken.
No problem! once I’m asleep you could dismantle the truck around me, I would’nt hear you.
I worked on a Standby Vessel for the oil rigs many years ago, and as I was the new boy on board, I got the best cabin
At the foot of the bunk, on the other side of the bulkhead was the anchor chain tube. Rattle Bang 24 hours a day.
Head end of the bunk, other side of that bulkhead was the Aquamaster engine, 16 cylinder diesel, running at 4000 revs, 24 hours a day when on station keeping.
I used to pray for rough weather, then we’d go on to the main engine, lovely and quiet.
Then they wondered why I went and slept in the on board hospital.
if you can sleep at home with your missus snoring at the side of you,
you`ll be pleased for the rest with the sound of a fridge running at the side of you
no to be truthful i did some fridge work a couple of years ago on nights but the noise give me the right hump!!!
when i did nights out i parked in liecester one night in this industrial est lovely and quite next thing watching telly a fridge driver parked oposite and i had to move the which i thought was bloody ignorant of him and selfish.
