I agree
I aim for 8 hours a night, if I’m lucky enough to catch a wee half hour in the bunk during the day all the better. When on nights, I feel I need more sleep, usually works out like 6-7 hours sleep during the day, then a hour in the bunk through the night, then on my days off I catch up on the sleep lost.

Eight hours, more or less. Even if that means being in bed by eight pm. People who think they do well on four, five hours are kidding themselves.
No they may well just be doing a different job to you, with a body that requires less sleep
I will caveat that by saying anyone who regularly feels tired is either doing a job that doesn’t match their sleep needs/needs more sleep.

Then I will consider my self kidded! Should have known some one telling me I am doing it wrong and only their way is right.
Get a grip mate, you need 8 thats all you need to say, the pop was pointless less maybe you are goin to post a list of your medical qualifications.
maga:
try to get 8 hours but can easily survive on 3 or 4 a night and did for 12 months. the only reason i sleep more now is for maximum gym gains
If i have only a fews hours im sound in the morning, its midday when it comes back and bites me on the arse, theres lads a our place who start 3 ,4 in a morning and are fluffing the pillow when the kids are still out playing and the birds are tweeting,i couldnt do that especially on a sunday night
because i have different start finish times and a long commute sometimes i get as much as 9 or as little as 2 and a half.
a 9 hour rest doesn’t last that long if you have a 3 hour commute, cook tea, relax and have a shower then straight back for another 15.
9hr rests should be illegal unless you’re a tramper.

This is why I got a job closer to home as was doing 60 mile a day

So, if four or five hours is what some people “think” is all they need then same people will wake fully rested after five hours even on non-working days? Doubtful.
