If anyone cares to remember what the UK ecconomy was like for the working class in the late 80’s and early 90’s, They’ll remember that the only way to get a decent paying job was to move abroad.
The Poles came to the UK and other European countries for the same reasons we had to back then. “self preservation”.

A small minority on here use a boat/train sometimes in their working day so that means the vast majority of us who don’t are to accept millions of immigrants flooding in here and depressing wages so you can feel better about driving on the wrong side of the road? What have a bunch of brickies got to do with us? I’ve delivered to sites with brickies working there, There wouldn’t have been a delivery to the site if the brickies hadn’t asked for it.
I havn’t found any EU immigrants depressing wages, I’ve found plenty of English “drivers” willing to work for £6.20 an hour though.
Most of the Poles are going home now as driver wages over there are higher than here now.

I can remember it well.Loads of Brits were emigrating to Germany and France etc and you could find British shops selling loads of British stuff to all the British ex pat communities on many streets in many French and German towns.All supplied by loads of British wagons when those wagons weren’t hauling our massive levels of exports to those countries and hauling back loads home again.Yeah right another planet trucknet re writing of history. 
The reality was that ze Germans were advertising for a just few,out of all the unemployed we had here after Maggie had wrecked the economy,to do the jobs that they didn’t want to do themselves such as working in the cold on building sites.Just like the same adverts for the Turks.
Anything east of the Berlin Wall were / are commies! 
we manufactured everything and exported it Phil so them were the days! auf wiedersehen pet was funny and they coined it in / p1$sed it up the wall! Who cares? Them EE weren’t allowed out of THEIR countrys back then. Look at the poles, rumus Etc!

I find some NOT all of them rude i was trying to help a driver on the isle of white at a co op shop last week i stopped in traffic and notice that he was parked to close to a post to get the tail lift open so i put the window down and told him, and in his broken english i got " what do you want and i know i know yes yes" so i put the window up. Even if he did know diidnt have to be rude but seeing as i saw him pull up just plane ruedness

A mate of mine had to fly on a Communist airline just as the Wall was coming down.
He complained that his inflight meal of gristle stew was ‘fridge’ cold.
The reply from the stewardess; “Ha! Yo no like, you no eat!”
The guy in the next seat plucked at his elbow and said: “Me, me,” so my mate gave him the stew, which looked worse than dog food.

The question is would they be so keen on coming here if the unions finally came to their senses in calling for an end to the social security system and NHS and put the cost of private income protection and health care provision into wage demands instead.In which case you can bet that the idea of using over supply of the labour market to keep wages down would make the idea of immigrant labour unviable.

That was standard procedure. I delivered to many a Lidl store under construction all across the UK when I was doing ferry freight trailers out of Immingham/Hull. Basically they’re built to a standard design, or one of a few designs and pretty much everything comes in by truck from Germany from the bricks to the roof timers to the shelving to the nuts and bolts. They have a small handfull of senior German designers and tradesmen and the other 95% were all Polish builders, plumbers and labourers etc and they move from site to site wherever there is a new shop being built. Not a single British worker on site and practically nothing sourced in Britain to build the places either.
The big difference is that the Germans didnt already have 3 and a half million unemployed,they still had a manufacturing industrial base and they didnt use these “economic migrants” to suppress pay rates to their own citizens.
I dont blame the east europeans for chasing the money but when Bulgaria and Romania have full access rights next year thats when the ■■■■ will really hit the fan.
When the Berlin wall came down east Germany was flooded by Turkish migrants.Neo ■■■■ gangs spread all across Berlin,Leipzig,Magdaburg etc and if Germany had not had the resources to vastly increase employment for it people the country would have decended into chaos.
The British government have neither the resources or the brains to stop that happening here.

The way I see it is that like most other uk immigration it’s motivated by a load of foreign workers who don’t have the bottle or the knowledge to make thir own countries into somewhere worth staying in.So they come here to take advantage of the remnants of the standard of living that the British workers fought for since at least the 1920’s and before rather than turn their own place into something better.In other words the total opposite to what the British culture did over the years in it’s colonies and the motivation for most British emigration to those places as opposed to the immigration which Britain has been subjected to over the years.
As for saving money.The better analogy would be Brits having fought over the years to be able to afford decent beef steak instead of horse meat while the stuff still seems to be the choice of eastern europeans amongst other delicacies like fish from the local rivers or ponds.With the British government now seeming to want to take take advantage of those lower expectations,of the east european immigrant workforce,in order to turn the clock back to the living standards and working conditions of the 1920’s/30’s.
