Its not the immigrants fault its the system that ■■■■■. If you lived somewhere with poor wages and lots of unemployment and saw a chance to better yours and your familys life would you chance your arm and do it?
The question is would they be so keen on coming here if the unions finally came to their senses in calling for an end to the social security system and NHS and put the cost of private income protection and health care provision into wage demands instead.In which case you can bet that the idea of using over supply of the labour market to keep wages down would make the idea of immigrant labour unviable.

Time to own up!my driver is from Eastern Europe he is a well educated guy with excellent English and over 20years experiance having driven IFA’s Raba’s Roman’s Kamaz’ all the old Eastern Bloc tat and he is paid a lot more than many on TNUK seem happy to work for! I only hear from him once a week to give me his hours, I do regular vehicle checks & card downloads the 6weeklys never have any faults (btw it’s a Hino) I offered him the Volvo he said no

I think the evidence shows that the problems concerning Eastern Europe are more a case of low expectations and lack of skills and the east european influx is just as symptom of that in running away to get ahead because they don’t have the ability to make an adavanced developed society of their own by their own efforts.
i remember in the 80s when i was a nipper and my dad was a slaughter man he lived and worked in norway/germany/holland and greenland while mum and the kids were home rough days

I only ask as i’ve worked with a few of these guys and they didn’t find their licences at the bottom of the Cornflake packet, good drivers all of them having done like our old school and worked their way up driving lorries not wheeled computers, decent blokes too, courteous and polite, i’d gladly work with them again.
If your chap is like those i’m not surprised he’s happy with the Hino, tough and simple and sod all worng with that.

My last salary at a Hungarian railway company was about £ 300/month in 2005.

So, what kind of house can you get for a mortgage that a £50pw wage would easily pay off then? This argument is of course useless without pictures as always. To keep up the payments on an average 3 bedroomed home with an average repayment mortgage here, you should be looking at needing a week’s wages per month to make the payments. If you therefore earn less than that, you’re over your head in debt, or not earning enough. If you have no other debts, and you’re already working 48+ hours a week, then what? Cheap money isn’t available. Good wages are not available. Unlimited PAID hours for drivers are not available. The only thing that IS available it seems are yet more drivers looking for work. Perhaps in another 10 years when the 60 somethings have all hung up their keys, and newbie 20 somethings didn’t bother replacing them we’ll get some proper wages again. It’s damned expensive for precious little reward getting a licence in the first place right now.

one thing I have noticed many, many times along my travels in europe and across the atlantic - it’s that the less important the person, the more he boasts about the accomplishments of his nation and/or compatriates. take for example carryfast, whos biggest accomplishment is the ability to spell kenworth without suffocating himself with his own saliva. but is always on the frontlines, when it’s time to remind the western civilization about the importance of britain and what britons have accomplished, no matter how long ago.

just watched the newsnight program on iplayer about the lifting of restrictions on Romanians and Bulgarians entering the uk after jan 2014. and from what I have seen we are totally worrying about nothing, now I know the survey was only done on a 1000 people in each country but the figures looking or wanting to come to this country were small, the more worrying thing was the figure that the politicians were banding around and the figures on the BBC Newsnight web site.
now my maths is not the best so help me out, it’s started by the web site stating that there were 29 million Bulgarians and Romanians which in some respects is correct if you take that’s the total populations for both countries, with Romania having just over 21 million and Bulgaria having 7.4 million respectively, but these figure are totally wrong in reference to the working populations of each country. when you take the numbers already working within their respective countries those who have no intention of leaving for one reason or another and those who want to work abroad but not in the u.k these figures keep on falling.
the best quote came from an MEP on the newsnight programme when he said that if you work the figure back for Bulgaria, for every 1% of people that want to come to the U.K equates to 74,000 people, now this is where it all falls down bear with me!!
