Skid marks on single carriageways since Monday

truckman020:
I don’t see what the problem is with the increase in speed, I have had no problems on single track roads, just read the road ahead, surely that’s what an experienced driver should do

All well and good saying, “just read the road ahead” but there are drivers who can crash into other trucks ands cars on a straight stretch of a 3 lane motorway!!

Radar19:
As long as its not you making the marks, why do you care?

:open_mouth: Oooohh don’t upset the Smoking Monkey! :bulb:
He’s got a vicious tongue, just ask dozy

You dont get skid marks with abs

Indeed having strong abs, along with the other core muscles, can mean better sphincter control so less chance of an errant skid-mark. :stuck_out_tongue:

And less chance of doing something childish

I don’t care, it’s just an observation.

Now you mention it though, it might be me coming the opposite way when some clueless newbie locks up on a bad corner he didn’t prepare for. :open_mouth:

How’s your bendy training coming along Radar?

Starts in June.

I generally use the same roads every week (I’m a one trick pony with a proper job) and most of the good corners I reguarly visit are (since Monday) now adorned with black streaks of panic.

Exaggerating, much?

Not if the A66 is anything to go by.

I dunno about single track roads - but the A14 in Suffolk seems to have sprung forth some nice shiny new skid marks these past few weeks…

ive made a few recently… mainly because ive discovered that dropping the lift axle at 90Ks when someone is tailgtating is a reet laugh and its a good way of getting them to back off!!

You can drop those when you’re moving? I thought you had to be stationary to lift or lower them.

You thought wrong.

Seen a few skidders meself, thought they where just the usual but have noticed trucks keeping up with me ok on the straight sections but being left standing on bendy sections.
Probably agency and young drivers getting to grips or not with the new speed limits.

I saw a massive one in South Wales earlier this week that suddenly appeared but I think that was just a wheel locking up. Followed a tanker down a duel track too the other day and one of the wheels on the trailer kept locking up, massive cloud of white smoke by the time he pulled into the petrol station to check it out

Oh noooo. Now we’ll have betty king ranting about abs and ebd and bum and ■■■.

Nice one, made me laugh that did

Steeps

Of course, these skid marks could always be caused by rapid acceleration in trying to reach the new target!

No more trucks an trailers stuck under bridges then,

well as they can now get to the dizzy speed they should go all the way now
