I use the A17(Lincs) a lot and it is not just the car drivers, but the bloody lorry drivers too
I upped to 50mph today and had no hassle at all, infact a whole lot safer…But, technically, I am breaking the law…I really feel it is time something was done about this.

Stick to the speed limit. If people feel like killing themselves…Let them.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t. You can’t win either way. Just stay legal, if some pratt wants to do something stupid whilst trying to overtake you doing the legal limit LET THEM.
When they have a crash and blame you for only doing 40 tell them to get stuffed.
If the limit was 50, some â– â– â– would still go past you.
Maybe they’d be limited to 52mph, so it’d take a week and they’d end up cutting your nose off, but they wouldn’t stay behind you.
Stick to 40 mate, it’s the law, you’re paid to drive, usually paid by the hour, and if you’re not, then probably not paid enough per day to handle a speeding ticket …

It’s very dangerous isn’t it? Imagine when they up the speed limit to 80mph on the motorways for cars? Are they to let us whip the speed limiters off? If you drove before 01/ 01/ 1996 it was a lot safer then! I just couldn’t keep up with paddy! there was a petition by a driver a couple of years back to up the single carriage way limit and if memory serves me correct they were looking into it! Unfortunately the carrot crunchers don’t want motorways in east anglia so it’s your licence and your choice pal! Me personally 50s fine just watch out for fowler welch or jack Richards fakenham division!

I know exactly what your saying, I tried a similar experiment, but now we’re tracked, monitored and fined (lose bonus), so it’s 40 all the way.
No matter what you are driving, car or lorry, if you are doing the speed limit someone behind will always want to go faster. It is because they have a huge inferiority complex and cannot cope with it. On many occasions they only get as far as the next delay and you catch up with them.
IF you had an accident say someone pulled out on you and it was seen from your tacho that you were doing 50 the blame would probably be put back to you as if you were doing 40 they would have had time to get out the way.
Doesnt seem worth it really and doing 40 doesnt make it any more dangeroue for you just the idiots who want to get past, and there probably the same people who have to pass a truck no matter what even if your doing more then the limit.
Stay at home, sod em all, they can go get their own food, furniture, fuel, clothes, etc straight from the factory themselves… see how fast they are then.

Just watch them camerars on that road mate I’ve been done at 46mph by the one at Leadenham hill a while back. I only use that road rarely now, and will have a clean license next month, coincidense
Stick to what you beleave is right, and you know thats 40mph, if you go faster, only do it for yourself. The others can sort themselves out. Just dont wrap it up to 56mph at Sleaford, because that really is a (zb) act, 40mph for single- 50mph for dual
