ye know when a manufacturer starts to bling/ tinker with a model to justify its price that its on its way out…dont get me wrong great truck and model but cant help feelin that Simons money should have been spent on a newer model thats about to hit the roads later this year…Scania did the same just b4 launchin the R series… and even now …thats old hat…2 big trucks to hit the market this year in the UK and thats Mercs Gigaspace and the New Volvo…interesting times ahead
great looking motor
as for new model, stick with the old ones until they’re sorted out in the real world. take the first fh, 18 mths after being launched & slated by the press volvo made the xl. scania 4 series the first ones had the sloping centre consul
& was soon changed. the first actros owners had a nightmare with the electrics & put a lot of people off for a very long time.
let the likes of stobart’s have the first batch so any problems are sorted out with the big fleets.
FH 16 recently mentioned that Simon Gibson was going to go all Mercedes, that is until the local dealer went ■■■■ up, maybe the Volvo was a small sweetener from Crossroads Commercials in Hull
Gibbo would never go all merc i useed to work for him aswell!Simon is a top bloke its his transport manager that has his favourites!!

[zb] shed!!Can just imagine being stuck with that clown in a driver’s room…‘but my bed is 200mm bigger than all the others…’ zzZZZZzzzzZZZZ

One of their drivers lives round the corner from me and he told me a while ago they had a load of merc actros’ on order and then once the local dealer went ■■■■ up they cancelled. Think it may have been a excuse though as their yard is 5 mins from ours and we have all mercs and use northside in Doncaster for servicing.
Drivers make allsorts up at times though.Never known him have one on demo although i could be wrong.Mercs weigh to much for gibbos liking unless you get 30 tonne payload he isnt happy thats main reason he only bought two magnums.

seen it round scunthorpe a few times, always admired it!!
must spend forever and a day polishing it though, never seen it dirty!! looks nice for it though!
Before it went into paint
To be honest it doesn’t look any bigger than a 105 ssc.

i had a 56 plate fh when there and they were all bang on 13 tonne with a belly tank. You need the alloys to get it though!I have said for ages all cabs should be as deep as a 105 at least.I have had a couple of 95 xfs when i worked for Mike Kirby and the bunks were huge compared to anything else, then the tga got released and that is a wide bunk.Gibbo and Kirby always specced top of the range models which is always a bonus.Trouble with Gibbos is or was basic was 50 hours and unless you kiss arse to his transport manager you wont get much more than 50 as he will use you wagin on a night.
Never mind driving it, I wouldn’t mind just living in it! .
@ 1 min 35 sec, he says loads of room but yet banging his arm on a table ■■ doenst he know how to put stuff away and he looked very cramped in the drivers seat

I`d be even more amazed if he could with a tip tank. Is actually quiet easy to get 30t payload with a 2 pot belly tank though, most weigh well under 6t.
Never pulled a tip tank so dont know what they weigh. All gibbos belly tanks are three pots aswell.I think the fh is very comfy more leg room than my actros but unless you get the leather seat they arent quite as comfy.I cant sleep on the bottom bunk of an actros they are to narrow and trying to get on the top bunk is stupid unless you have the megaspace as that has a step in it.

Spec for spec an Actros is a good 400kg lighter than an FH in my experience.
Mines the opposite when i have compared them.cant remember exactly how much but the merc was heavier
There is one here, looks like it was a little tired and fell over.
Name and Shame Bud
I presume that is Peterborough Crane Hire
