Sickies

Do you take them

.

pulling sickies is a mugs game , got more respect for my employer ,if i need genuine time off at short notice i am straight with them

I phoned in and told them I was on the Herald. They told me it sank years ago. oh ■■■■.

Place I used to work 1 of the lads nana had died 15 times I think

One of my old gaffers was the best…i knocked one day in those days too much beer on a Sunday couldnt be arsed to get up , the company rule was though if you didnt ring in by 4.30 pm that day you couldnt come in the next day so they made you pay one way or another…next day when i showed my face he just said good night out was it ? i said yes it was…he said at least your honest…and do you want to book that day off as a holiday so i still got paid…cant be fairer than that…

sounds good mate. Only time I got ■■■■■■ up I told the truth and there were no problems. Just got the ■■■■ ripped out me next time I went in. When I left school I worked with a guy who used to tell the tallest tales ever. one day he never turned up, then when he did he told boss that his neighbour had hung himself with his chest expanders. turned out it was true!!! It was in the papers. Sometimes the most ridiculous excuses are actually true. you couldn’t make it up as they say.

when i was an apprentice fitter, i was really bad at getting in on time for my 6am start. i’d been given a final warning for it, and had been making a huge effort - i even stopped staying up until 2am and made sure i was asleep by midnight  i made it a full week of being on time, but the following monday i got stuck behind a convoy of 30 odd ride on lawnmowers. they didn’t believe me, and i got escorted form the premises, and invited not to return. funny now, but was a kick in the teeth at the time

why were there 30 odd mowers going down the road?

the only sicky i ever pulled was when we won the ashes in 2009…

Only ever pulled a sicky once when i was about 16-17, wouldnt even dream of doing it now, even if im ill (which is rare) i still go to work, as far as im concerned its the boss who decides whether your fit to work.

i rang in sick once. i rang in with a pathetic excuse, then listened to him slagging me off as i was outside the office door.
the look on his face was funny as [zb] when i walked in.

i never used to call in sick, would go in even if dying!! until a few years ago 2 different employers as well, turned up for shift, started work and then was asked if anything was wrong as i was,nt my normal self, explained, one employer told me to go home the second let me finish my shift,in both cases i was contacted the following day to see if a) i was better and b) could i go in and see manager before shift start… the outcome of both was i was put on disciplinary with the company saying i had put them and my colleagues at risk and if something had happened i was putting the company at risk of being sued?? would,nt mind so much but the one job was a desk job and the injury was knackered ankle…

though i still won,t just pull a sickie for the sake of it,

When in i worked for Royal Mail, they bought in a scheme where you could buy 2 weeks extra hols.I went to ask the depot manager for more details, he said dont waste your money just take two weeks sick like everyone else :open_mouth:
No wonder they lose so much money

as far as im concerned its the boss who decides whether your fit to work.

for real?

Worked for my family for years and sick days wernt tolerated. Even when i was at school they were like that with me so its just stuck ever since.

I’ve had one sick day off in the last 5 years, that was when I was working in a shop and had a day I couldn’t go more than 10 seconds from a toilet, and the bog at said shop was up 5 flights of stairs.

I prefer the honest approach with the boss, if I need time off I’m straight with it.

Ive never had a sickkie in all my days been sent home once cause i spewed my guts up all over the warehouse floor though

See if we had a bonus for attendance id be filthy rich
