Show off your Motor

It’s a lot of different brands that the 12v batteries are failing, EVs don’t have an alternator & pull current from the traction pack battery to charge them, I bought a blue dynamic 680A Varta 12v batteries for £83, I had one on my old Rover 75 & it lasted years with no trouble.

I may get that for the Octavia if that fails as it’s got a Halfraud one on at the moment and i don’t know the age of it

Tayna seem to have very competitive prices for batteries. Possibly further discounts if you go via Jack on Number 27 YouTube.
I was running Varta Blue under the bonnet, but I burnt out one of the battery posts…..loose connector arcing. Did a repair, but it was never the same. Now got Yausa as leisure batteries and under the bonnet.
I write the month/year on batteries with a magic-marker. (and mileage on filters and cam belt cover too)

I’m subscribed to his YT channel too.

Also a fan of Tayna for many a year, 2 day delivery to IV postcode and very well packed.

I’ve just spent over £600 getting all discs and pads changed on the Jag.

Not a bad price if all fitted as well

you do know that halfords own brand batteries are made by varta right

In all the bill came to coppers short of £622. That was for discs and pads on all 4 corners, wear detection leads front and rear, electronic handbrake kit, rear nearside calliper (which was seized) 3 hours labour and VAT, very happy with that as Jaguar would have charged me 3 times that. :+1:

My old Nirvana from about 5 years ago…I loved that motor.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I picked Beaver up (no not that ) for breakfast once, said he felt he was on ‘‘Brokeback Mountain’’ cheeky 2hat :joy:

Wife persuaded me to trade it in for a 'kin people carrier ffs (she can be VERY persuasive and caught me at a '‘weak moment’'if you see what I mean😄)
I went from ‘‘Urban Cowboy’’ to ‘Werthersoriginal man’ in one move.

Anyhoo the people carrier went recently for her cool Audi cabriolet.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

2 weeks ago……….on the Jaguar, discs and pads all round (Pagid), annual service, (oil and filters etc), MOT (failed, new brake pipe needed,…….supplied and fitted) re-tested, passed. £900.

I cant justify running the car, since I retired it’s only doing 4k miles a year, (tax, insurance, etc), but I bought the car 21 years ago (new), it’s a good motor, so it’s a keeper……..and stuff the expense

I’d keep it gom , I changed my car 2 yrs ago and I think it was £9995 if my memory serves me right , we were just offered £2,800 trade in for it ( it has gone from 42,000 apx to nigh on 87,000 th be fair , ) but that’s still a loss of £7,200 over 2 yrs ( gulp ) , £3600 p.a so £900 Pa doesn’t sound bad to me

So can you give me a no1 hair cut Rob if we meet up some where , and do you do perms with OAP discount for my mum

:joy::joy:
Cheeky get !
Yeah ok…but I draw the line at Brazillians.:joy:

You know now you bring it up I am a bit of a ‘‘closet hair stylist’’ I do my own hair…well I shave it all off anyway…
Me and my Mrs always used to fall out if I cut our kid’s hair.

The kids used to love it…although on one occasion my eldest lass had her school photo taken looking like Dave Hill from Slade (unintenionally btw😀)

My eldest lad was shouted at across the classroom after me giving him a Billy Idol bleached look, ‘‘Get that hat off in class boy’’.

My youngest lad was sent home from school when he asked me for a ‘David Beckham mohican’ at the time.

Maybe I wasn’t such a great parent after all,.. but my intentions were in the right place.:joy:

Jeez that’s high mileage :face_with_tongue: . Glad its sorted, lovely cars.

I do 15k miles a year in my Jag, this year it’s been serviced, MOT (it passed with advisories on brakes and tyres) so it’s had 4 new tyres, new discs/pads and calliper, grand total for the lot - just under £1300, but only paid £5,900 for 15 months ago with just 63k miles, so I’m setting myself up for many years of happy motoring, oh and £250 for a personal plate (anniversary present from MrsHogg)

Had mine MOT’d last weekend. I’d done 1800 since the last one!

I was sooo close to buying a 25 plate AMG while is was in the showroom but obviously couldn’t justify it when looking at how little I actually use mine

Still not a proper Jag though is it :face_with_tongue:

A full fat AMG?

£33000 +for my S type all those years ago, (private pension came good when I retired), it’s worth about 2p now. Well no dealer is getting their grubby hands on it, I’m keeping it. It’s a good car. It’s having a bit easier life now that ‘you know who’ has stopped driving (voluntarily), the crazy old dear used to love lighting the turbos up, nobody was safe.
