Should i help??

how mutch do east europeans pay to obtain an lgv licence and medicles ect have we got a level playing field

This was exactly the point that I was trying to make in an earlier posting.
I wont bother about the lack of medicals and how it is possible to by a licence over the counter or how if you drive a bendy bus or agricultural tractor they give you a licence for a HGV ! I would explain in detail if do gooders hadn’t chucked so much crap at me. Perhaps they could bear in mind that I have been driving lorries for 45 years. I was probably going through the “Corridor” into Poland with a lorry while they were kicking a ball about a school playground. I know that age doesn’t necessarily mean knowledge but I believe experience does.
It’s the do gooders and human rights brigade that have let this country down. Everyone has the right to work but only with the ‘right’ tools !! :unamused:

(If you dont know what the corridor was or have never been to Poland, then read the statement below before posting a derogatory reply)

As far as I see this I will tell you what I tell everybody else when they moan about poles, czechs etc.etc working with them.

You only have to worry if they are better workers than you.

I think by not helping them out you are been more childish and just making yourself look silly really. I can see where you are coming from by not helping but who comes out of this looking childish and petty.

Rob K:
I have mixed views on the subject. Years ago I would argue that we should all stick together and help each other out etc, regardless of which corner of the globe we come from, but this “sticking together” [zb] went out of the window a long time ago. Now it’s every man for himself and [zb] anyone that gets in their way, and it’s true.

As much as I’ve never wanted to believe it, I think that the comments Juddian made earlier are (becoming) true :

Listen to the views aired here, not a hope in hell that our lot will ever improve whilst people are prepared to give all their learning away for free to someone who will then teach all his mates., and then replace you.

Those that want to help the destruction of their own jobs, dont complain when we’re fighting each other for a fiver an hour in 3 years time.

In the past 12 months I’ve experienced first hand both a Morrisons driver and Culina driver of Eastern European origins label the English as lazy scum and how their countrymen will be running our country in 10 years time and taken over all our jobs. And then spat on the ground near my feet.

Yes, okay, who can blame them as we are a lazy country when it comes to work and we should be directing our anger at “the system” and not them, but when you hear stuff like that from them first hand it does enrage you and turn you against them.

You only have to take a look at the jobcentre website to see the impact they’ve had. 2-3 years ago you’d see page after page of £10/hr agency jobs in Northants but now they’re all £8.50-9.00 and it doesn’t take a genius to work out what’s caused that. Wages are on a downturn (esp. agency), there’s no doubt about it.

I have helped them in the past with directions and even leading them right to the door, but I wouldn’t do it now. If they want to cut it in this country then they first of all they can learn to speak the [zb] lingo and then they can learn from their mistakes like the rest of us had to do instead of being handed it all on a plate.

Before your exile you were on here defending them to the hilt.
Seems to me you have more faces than a town hall clock.
Sounds like you’ve finally got your head out of your back passage, wakened up and smelt the coffee. :astonished:

if we are so lazy why the silly wtd or should we work all hours and kill people like i keep reading about from east europe beatun if we are so hated why do we get so many who risk their lives to come here. perhaps if i was not lazy i could go steeling clothes bags that have been put out for the less well off then whip them to east europe to sell…( IT WAS ON NEWS TONIGHT)

Employers love Eastern Europeans because (a) They will work for ■■■■ all. (b)They are happy to run bent.
They come here because we are a soft touch.

quote"You only have to worry if they are better workers than you…"

You are taliking through your ars…it is when they will work for less.

beattun:
…i personally dont have a problem with english people, but you’ll have no trouble finding people the world over who do.

correct, and from reading some of the childish things in this thread it is no wonder. How pathetic, the blokes here to better himself and his family back in Czech no doubt. If for arguments sake Italy was paying three times what HGV drivers earn in Britain you can bet your ■■■■■■■■ that British drivers would be headin out there for the money in droves. Yet no doubt that would be a different kettle of fish wouldnt it?

Ironic thing here is…if you have been driving lorries for 45 years then its highly unlikely that you have sat a lorry test. Am i right? And you wanna call how others are being tested now?
Maybe i missed summat or got something wrong here? I’m sure you’ll clarify it for us !!!

Give the lad a break and show him directions etc…

If youve got a problem take it out with the boss,

If you are as professional as you claim,
you would realise its tough enough driving a truck,
without people making it harder by not being helpful.

Believe it or not
Eastern Europeans have the same feelings as you. :unamused:

And also he might have a cute sister looking for a “Rich Brit”

And also he might have a cute sister looking for a “Rich Brit”

 From what I’ve seen of Eastern European chicks they are okay til they reach about 25 and then someone hits them with the ‘ugly’ stick. :open_mouth:

Go on you know they’re right, show him how to do the job, where to go, who to see, if he doesn’t take it all in, have a few days unpaid holiday, (the boss will understand) and go with him to make sure he gets first hand all the knowledge its taken years of blood sweat and tears to learn.

When you get back, you’ll have a nice pat on the head and your P45, as igor’s mates will have got all their kit in your cab by then so bye bye Turnip.

I’m looking forward to helping a few of them myself soon, i’ll have a good shave so i don’t scratch the bosses ■■■ when i kiss it.

Gord an bennet, i hope we don’t have another war.

wakey wakey as Billy Cotton would say.

this makes me sick,
for crying out loud the guy only wanted directions.
he did,nt pull up in a petrol tanker and say “do you know how to unload this mate”.
what next.
when a guy asks for help do you check his number plate first.
if hes a foreigner on foreign plates is that ok.
if hes a foreigner on british plates to you tell him to do one.

i would be the first to admit that the country is full, yes we should chuck out all the illegals, close the borders and then only let people in with certain specialist skills.
i would also wave byebye to europe, bring back hanging and make every murderer and ■■■■■■ swing. but thats politics. this is supposed to be a truck drivers forum and not a branch of the bnp.

the guy just wanted directions. give away all my years of training for free :unamused: your having a laugh, years of training, he asked for directions.

wonder how many people on here would,nt help but work for a foreign owned company

Drink fuelled comments on a saturday night ?

Or just a scared ignorant person?

Starlocation, definately not drink, very seldom touch the stuff, so it must be the latter, an ignorant scared person.

Thanks for your contribution, your arguments are compelling, you have completely destroyed my reasoning and i admit i was wrong.

Now give those arguments, show just how the truck drivers lot has benefitted from the influx of workers, some good some useless, just like us.

Dave, i said giving away years of knowledge, not training.
I know our job has been dumbed down, but some of us have learned quite a bit over the years, and we’re not just a bum on a seat.
I assume from the picture that you do a specialist job, so do i, and as such we are both fortunate enough not to have too much competition from the east europeans, yet, i wonder if you’ll be quite so easy going when you see your probably quite enviable salaried position being gradually eroded by the market being flooded with outsiders.

If the bosses want to employ these people and it is their right to do so, then they’ll have to also employ the people to train them as well.

Actually i said directions ETC.
I was generalising, my boss bless him wanted me to explain just about every aspect of the job to him. And although some of our work is quite easy , some of it is actually quite tricky. And frankly i cannot be bothered with it.
I stand by my claim that bosses who employ eastern europeans when there are brits available are doing it for financial gain pure and simple.
Also i find it quite amusing when i read in the trucking press some firm or other moaning about cheap foriegn competition lol.
Oh and finally pulled into one of our customers yards this morning to drop a trailer , and found another trailer dropped by one of our eastern comrades blocking the gate with the legs still wound up, queue one smashed pallet carrier. Not allways the cheapest option eh. And yes i had to wind it up and move it. Oh well change of employer coming up.
Hope the drivers are helpful . :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Under H.A.S.A.W.A. it is your employer’s responsibility to provide adequate information, instruction, supervision and training.
So unless your contract states that you have to train new starts, you are quite within your rights to refuse.

admittedly no eastern europeans work here or as far as i know cemex or blue circle but they are at turners/crw pulling for civil and marine which is part of my company. so slowly but surely.
at the end of the day they are here and unless a miracle happens that aint going to change,

Mike-C, you obviously did not read the statement below as requested by myself. Also you are very good at jumping to conclusions.
Although I did obtain my HGV licence under “grandfathers rights”, I took the driving test at a later date voluntarily 1973. (out of curiosity)
I took another in 1976, in Rennes, France but this time it was obligatory.
England} Silly little TK and silly little 20’ empty single axle trailer.
France] 35tonne Berliet, 12metre loaded tri-axle tilt trailer.
So you see I have also been to another country to work but as I said before with the “right tools” (and I speak the language very well)
If you need verification of the above then there are people on this site that will do that. I can also put you in touch with some of my own ex drivers who will do the same. Mike-C, I rest my case.

Please read the statement below.

So the fact remains you still drove a HGV without a test, and you meant to slag off others who you think their test might not be up to ‘your standard’. I don’t care how old you are, i don’t care how long you’ve drove. If you’re going to apply standards to people then be consistent. I don’t care what 'you’re own ex drivers ’ say either. You stand up and speak for yourself. I’m not going into an argument with you. YOU drove without passing a test and thought it was fine, and you’ve done ok ? But for OTHERS you want them up to the latest UK scratch?
And yes, i am brilliant at jumping to conclusions !! As regards reading your sig, if we all took notice the forum would come to a standstill hey?!!
