Sharing cabins on ferries.

How do they get away with putting drivers in cabins with strangers ?If they did the same with tourists, there will be a public outcry.
I end up with no sleep if there is snoring all night or get a life story.
There could be four drivers in one cabin.
He could have a criminal history, and i awake to my gold teeth gone.
The ferries say it is due to time cleaning cabins,zo we must share.
Not so bad if it was those attractive horse transport drivers and stable hands, but other truckers. No thanks.

its down to price, if you want a single cabin spend more cash

You can actually opt to share cabins with strangers, P & O do it and you get a huge discount. if travelling solo…if you ring P&O ferries 08716-642121 (it cant be done online) and ask for a bunk in a "shared" cabin, its much cheaper. They set aside a couple of cabins for this, and this way you might end up sharing but theres a good chance of getting a cabin by yourself

tell em your a trannie

mind you could end up with soap on a rope situation :grimacing:

Lol, I used to work on the ferries, how well do you think they clean the cabin after truckers , you may share a cabin with 4 strangers but your probably sharing bed sheets with many more!!!..

I strongly object to the practice of sharing cabins, for one thing you don’t know if your belongings are safe when you leave the cabin and then there’s the snoring, ■■■■■■■ and stinking side to it. The last experience of this was an 11 hour voyage from Belfast to Liverpool with some very smelly gits.

that’s not a nice thing to say about family Pat

I tell the check in office i have a contagious disease and get a cabin on my own.
Or sleep in the cab below decks.Split curtains over.Make sure they do not see you.

I hate it, hence I dont go upstairs anymore. Although I woke up late yesterday morning to a deck hand banging on my door on Irish Ferries! He didn’t look happy but hey ho.

In fact its just reminded me of the skiing trips I used to do when coach driving. We had to share, so so told the other driver to say he wont share with me as Im gay! Worked surprisingly often. Although one rep was so annoyed that he said this she barely talked to him through the whole trip

that works great to a point. trouble is when they put you in with two gay rs truckers. not too much sleep and a whole lot of lube !!!

It works best when you’re actually gay  Wouldn’t bother on ferry anyhow, only used it on coach tours

Drivers are so spoiled these days!
When I started driving (just after the Boer War!) before anyone had invented sleeper cabs, we used to spend most nights in “digs”. Sometimes this meant sharing a smallish room with up to ten other drivers, all of whom displayed differing degrees of cleanliness. When all the available rooms were full the options were, 1) sleep (maybe) on a folding bed in the washroom/toilet or 2) defect to the nearest Salvation Army hostel where you could enjoy the company of twenty or thirty homeless gents in a dormitory.
Share a cabin? Untold luxury, mate!

Trust me, it wont work :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

And the moans we used to get from drivers about sharing a cabin, FFS, it was only a 4.5 hour crossing to Zeebby, and an hour of that was spent in the bar or duty free shop, oh how drivers are so so fussy, thats why the industry has gone the way it has, dont wanna share, wont get outta the cab for a pint ( in case they miss a bit of corrie ) some people wanna get out more its called socialising.

Sweetie you just didn’t try enough …

Never experienced this but would probably feel worse if it wasn’t English speaking folk I had to share with.
With that in mind do you get a choice if you don’t like the look of the folks your given to share with or do the ferry companies try and group like with like.

I mean can you go to the Captain and say look i’ve got a Romanian a Pole and a Frenchman is this the start of some sort of bad joke
