Sharing cabins on ferries.

Common for “tourists” on motorails, very expensive for own cabin.

Dipper Dave the main ferry company’s do put like with like on the longer crossings which is why most of us become multilingual faking a Scots,Irish or
Welsh accent otherwise you might end up sharing with an ‘Englishman’. Drivers have complained for years about sharing a cabin when the ferries have
excellent seating which you can sprawl across and have an excellent nights sleep wallowing in your own quagmire or if you insist…buy your own ferry.
Do object when it’s 4 in a cabin and I/we will use the seats as an option particularly in the summer when the air con can’t cope.As for snorers, farters
or any other objectionable habit some might have there is an option…DON’T DO CONTINENTAL.Indeed this very week shared a cab with a young driver
great it was when his alarm went off at 4am ferry arriving at 7am just live with it and enjoy.

I also detest sharing. Portsmouth caen… There can be hardly anyone on the boat and they still double you up. It’s all, as been said, because they don’t want to pay the cleaning company extra.
Can you imagine telling a tourist, right, we are busy tonight. You will have to share with another couple! It’s not gonna happen. Treated like cattle.
And it’s amazing how they can miraculously find a spare cabin when you upgrade! (at a cost of £30)

reminds me of parking up at an old Truckstop on the truro Road from penhale, just off the roundabout that is crossed by the A3058.

anyway i digress… i parked up in an daycab roadtrain unit and trailer and asked if they had accomodation, yes the old guy replies its over there ! i has a walk to the otherside of the canteen and theres a room that could prbably hold 10 drivers lined up just like i imagined a public school dorm would of looked like." well bugger me" i says and the old guy answers “that will most likely be the outcome”!!!

i always found i could wedge myself down the behind the seats on a day cab roadtrain after all

Trust me, it wont work :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Sweetie you just didn’t try enough …

as they say , every hole’s a goal

On the Caen,Le Havre and Cherbourg routes,i sleep in the truck. The only problem is the stale air and fumes.
The other issue is an incident at sea.
A chemical tanker leak or a fire down below the decks.
Lastly,if it sinks, nobody will know Toby is down below.

And the moans we used to get from drivers about sharing a cabin, FFS, it was only a 4.5 hour crossing to Zeebby, and an hour of that was spent in the bar or duty free shop, oh how drivers are so so fussy, thats why the industry has gone the way it has, dont wanna share, wont get outta the cab for a pint ( in case they miss a bit of corrie ) some people wanna get out more its called socialising.

You’re welcome to socialise on a 18 hour crossing to France with four in a cabin. One things for sure, you wont feel that social afterwards

Anyone here ever in the Army/TA then your talking ■■■■■■■ and snoring…the snoring often got me my own room/tent in a corner

You can actually opt to share cabins with strangers, P & O do it and you get a huge discount.

I’ve reluctantly shared cabins a couple of times with snorers and farters and guys with rotten feet, not sure if I would be willing to share with somebody that had actually requested to share with a stranger though, I would be a bit suspicious of his motives.

Most of the time I stay down in the deck in my cab. But I once went up and booked into a cabin. I could hear a few drivers talking about how Tommy snores and they wouldn’t share a cabin with him. Well after dinner I headed to my cabin. Well sweet jaysus who was in the cabins only this Tommy fella. Well iI wanted a good sleep so I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the forehead. Well I ended up with a great nights sleep but poor Tommy was wrecked the next morning. I over heard him telling his mates that he sat up ewatching me all night.

So’s who fault would that be Tobes? You of all people should know that passengers are NOT allowed on the vehicle deck after sailing …
(as you seem to know everything else, including the mayors daughter knicker size  )

What do you call that stuff the “post mortem” guys smear on their nostrils before “opening up” a body thats been lying about for a day or FIVE

That would be the dogs danglies for the BO/■■■■■■■/smelly feet trucker “mates” sharing a boat cabin!!!

2lb sledge will sort out the one who snores!!! :grimacing:

I have shared with 4 in a cabin on many occasions, all types, foreign farters, snorers, burpers, smellies. the lot, but to lie flat, and feel very very tired, makes you ignore all whats going on around you, plus when i did those long crossings drivers were more like brothers than strangers, but at the end of the day, if your tired, have had a couple of beers, you will sleep like a baby.
