Could have been doing analogue, there are still firms out there that use them, some use nothing but.
Exactly!

Everyone lies.
Sometimes we lie for the right reasons eg, “no dear, your bum does not look big in that” or “yep, I love your new hairdo” or even “I’d love to have your Mother stay over Christmas my dear”.
Sometimes we lie for the wrong reasons eg, “yeah of course I have a commercial pilots licence, do you think I’m insane?” Or “so Mr Smith, today I’ll be performing your vasectomy, of course I’ve performed this procedure many many times!”
But in this case you should hold your head high and lie through your teeth, I mean let’s face it, 15 years ago before box ticking became a national pastime this would never have even been an issue.
I have signed up with a number of agencies over the years & so attended many interviews & filled in plenty forms. Not once in all that time have any of them checked my work references or referees. Come January it won’t be a problem anyway as they won’t be ringing that often.
Could say you had been working for a firm thats gone bust.

Because it will tell them when you last drove

It will only tell them the last time you drove a motor with a digi tacho - lots still have analogue.

Don’t get me wrong I’d lie thru my teeth to get a job but if someone said to me they worked for a firm that only had 8 year plus old motors or if they had newer you never drove it when the old banger you drove was off the road
Thanks again for the replies , one of you asked why agency - the reason being flexibility ( childcare etc ) most firms round here work 7 days & want max hours etc , anyway have got interview with another one monday & the guy on the phone is an ex driver so should be ok
Won’t agency see in ur tachometer u haven’t driven for so long?
Or a company you go to work for?
@chester1…I drive a 54 plate Scania every night, before that I had a 52 plate Merc, we have a 52 plate Scania W&D and a 61 plate DAF unit. If needed, or a rental is unavailable at a minutes notice, we have to use the older ones at night as the DAF is needed to get in to London. Lots of our motors are pre digi throughout the company but they are slowly being phased out, depot by depot. The trouble is, as we buy outright and a rigid is in the region of 105k and some depots having 50 odd motors on site, it gets a bit pricey! Plus, they run 'em into the ground before getting rid…most of the older Scania rigids will have well over 1 million k’s on and are still going, the units will probably have at least double…mine has 3.3 million on and most are double shifted all week
just to add, 180 hrs out of 2 years would equate to about 5 weeks worth of normal driving so shouldn’t be hard to blag it.

I drive everyday. I don’t have a digi card and I’ve never had one. No one on our firm has a digi card not have they ever had one. The 3 firms we work closely with don’t have a digi card motor on the fleet and not do a good number of the tipper firms locally.
So perhaps take your head out if RDC land and realise that an awful lot if haulage is carried out in older motors

Hi chaps , been out of the game for just over 2 years & need to get back! Only thing is i’ve noticed alot of agencies ask for at least 180hours of driving in the last 2 years , I’ve had my class 1 for 20 years & was driving regularly until personal circumstances dictated a career change , shall i say i was driving up to a year ago ?
I can’t condone lying of course but its a lot easier for an old hand out the game for a bit to get away with it rather than a newbie.
Anyway I had been out the job myself for almost 10 years and in order to get back in the saddle had to tell a fib or two.
Secrets of Lying: As I’m a bit what some might call ‘habitual’ and sometimes lie even when theres no need (great practice for RDC waiting rooms) heres a few tips:
You will need a good memory, the best liars have the ability to remember even the most complex porkie.
Mix in some truths, i.e theres no records on my digi card coz its new (well it is) and previously I drove a lot of analogue tacho trucks (this is fact for me albeit 10 years previous).
Don’t over egg the pudding, liars often come un stuck by exagerating the point when theres no need.
Try and convince yourself: perfect if you can believe your own lies then it will be easy to convince others.
You may also be faced with a question like ‘where have you been assesed’ to me this triggers a ream of previous companies I have worked for in my lifetime, or sometimes just driven past.
2 years isn’t long but before I got back on the road I lived and breathed this forum at one point soaking in as many tips as I could.
But and this is a biggie, take your time on your first job and double/triple check everything.
Hope this helps, anyway must dash the wife has just screamed she is ■■■■■ and needs my attention ASAP.
Dont consider it a lie, you have been driving your car anyway? so consider it a half-truth. and good luck.
Before you lie to get the job, then you really should do a little bit of research into exactly how much trouble lying can get you into.
Lying can only get you into trouble, it can’t get you out of it.
If you feel the need to lie to get yourself a job, then one day it will come back to haunt you. One day, someone is going to tackle you about your lying.
If you lie about how much driving you’ve done in the past 2yrs, then you’re going to prison when/if they find out that you’re a liar. This will happen if/after you have an incident.
Is the job worth a few weeks in prison?
TNUK is full of folks who’d love to hear about your experience in prison.
Dont tell us you put pontental employees on a lie detector when you was a captain of industury.
NO
go to an old boss and ask if you can go on a run
with another driver or do some yard work
Does he really want to be working for a agency who see 20 years driving experience as being irrelevant?

One or two on here who wouldn’t mind hearing about your experience as a ‘captain of industry’, either…

It’s not 180 hours, it’s 180 DAYS!! That’s 6 months.
I ran into the same problem, and when I asked how they checked it regarding analogue charts, they said I would need to provide the evidence. Yeah right.
Anyway, I lied and now have a proper job. I know it works because it was the only untruthful cv I send out and the only offer I’ve had.
No, I’m wrong, I got a call on Friday asking if I was still interested in a temp to perm at coalville.
I had seven years experience before losing my licence. The epilepsy word, mis diagnosed or just suspected is going against me big time. Just lie mate.
