Hi chaps , been out of the game for just over 2 years & need to get back! Only thing is i’ve noticed alot of agencies ask for at least 180hours of driving in the last 2 years , I’ve had my class 1 for 20 years & was driving regularly until personal circumstances dictated a career change , shall i say i was driving up to a year ago ?
yes if you can get a reference
You know how to drive, just get on with it.
Yes your not a novice so crack on
I would tell a newly qualified driver no you’ll get caught out, but With 20 years experience behind you I’d say yes.
Fill your boots
Crack on!
Thanks for the replies , it’s just pertemps near me are crying out for drivers , so i popped in today to enquire , then some patronising bod didn’t seem interested in my experience , or why i hadn’t been driving - just that i must have driven at least 180 hours in the last 2 years , since then noticed others stipulate this as a requirement
Do what I did and have a two hour lesson/refresher in a truck then its clear in your mind so you can blag your way confidently. And gen up on tacho regs

Lol. 20yrs experience, 2yrs doing some other job, he hardly needs a refresher, he was being honest and box tickers got the hump.
Its the fact i hate lying that ive got the problem with , as i have no work record for the last 2 years ( i was a ‘carer’ for my son ) - so you no these bods will think you’ve been sacked or whatever , got no prob with tach regs etc , & i’ve got the cpc blue card - haven’t been away from driving for this time before so hopefully wont be too rusty
Get used to listening to liars if you’re going to work for an agency, wing it mate, sod 'em, they’ll pick you up and drop you when it suits them soon enough.
Out of interest, why are you bothering with agencies? With your experience and the fact you’ve got a full DCPC behind you, I wouldn’t think many firms would hesitate to offer you work.
Unless your son had ongoing needs and the agency flexibility is useful to you. If so, lie lie lie.

+1
Just say what you need to say. Don’t worry about telling lies to an agency… They lie every time they open their mouths.
Good luck
Plenty more agencies out there, all desperate for drivers right now. Why lower yourself by lying. Tell the truth with confidence if they don’t like it then try another. If they don’t trust you now then they won’t offer you much work anyway.
I had a similar situation when I went back and whilst I didn’t lie I sort of prevaricated with confidence. “no I haven’t done a lot for a while, but I’ve done this and this and some of that and a fair bit of that as well”.
I got an induction for one firm but before that happened I did a couple of nights for another firm in another town and haven’t stopped working since.
Hopefully they won’t download your didgi card

Why?
They set the standard you just maintain it. They’ll lie and cheat and blag you. Why not do the same

Could have been doing analogue, there are still firms out there that use them, some use nothing but.
I had 17 yrs out of the game but quickly got back into it and i told the agencies this and they
wasn’t bothered in the slightest.
