Sent home for wearing shorts?

Can’t see the difference between bare arms and bare legs…tbh.

I have always considered a pair of zip off/ convertible trousers for those times shorts cannot be worn for valid or ■■■■ reasons.

With the exception of certain sectors (chemicals etc) my thoughts on the banning of shorts are purely because some ineffectual middle manager has the hump because his perception is that someone has something he doesn’t and his ego simply will not let it go, therefore he has to prove that he’s the big dog by banning the wearing of shorts. I often wonder at what is the difference between bare arms and bare legs from a company viewpoint?

I can’t see a problem wearing shorts as long as your also carrying a pair of trousers you can change into for any sites that require or for their H&S then you can change back afterwards.

There are many chemical sites, all of Wilton, Ineos Grangemouth and Crosfield (PQ Corporation) Warrington just of the top if my head which require long sleeves as well as long trousers, admittedly the enforcement varies from site to site even shift to shift but that’s the rule and has been for 30 years that I know of.

When you DO actually need ppe, then fair enough.
If bare arms are accepted, then there’s no need at all,to ban shorts.

There is too much of this sort of thing, it’s disgusting.

If you want to wear shorts book a holiday abroad, some of us would like to keep our lunch down.

Anybody else been to Hulland Ward where you have to rock up in full clown suit, including those [zb] horrible plastic hi viz trousers.
They are just lovely in summer those [zb] things, when you take them off they are abso soaking wet inside, as your legs are if wearing shorts under them. :unamused:

yes I go in there every week , and I wear a pair of cotton high viz trousers !! , I wear a short sleeve high viz t- shirt as well , and I’m called dozy :exclamation:!

These [zb] should see some of the girls that go round to work sites with food vans for smoko and lunch. Shorts that make a blokes day. Most don’t even know what they’re buying, they’re so interested in the crumpet. No shthoutorts with food, my arse… or hers.

no good without picture’s pete :stuck_out_tongue: :  :

If there´s no pictures? It never happened.

Sorry lads, been off the road for about 12 years now. Anyway, even if I had pic’s I wouldn’t share 'em with you lot.

We are not allowed to wear shorts, it’s a question of food contamination.

I’m sure years ago you had to wear a shirt / tie when driving for samworths bros , so they did have a dress code & all this little hitler referred to by the op was just asking him to work to this dress code :unamused:
I collect from a place that requires high viz trousers , boots , high viz tops , hard hats , safety glacsses , it’s hot but it’s there requirement , you know it and you just do it , so along come all the new starters who decide because there picking loads up on a night it’s fine to wear just a vest top , shorts & flip flops :unamused: :unamused: , not one is bright enough to see the security cammeras scattered all round the yard :unamused: :unamused: , apparently not one of the useless zb were aware of a dress code even though they’d done a induction on the rules on that site & been issued a full set of pp :unamused: :unamused: , apparently none were aware every load had to be strapped either :unamused:
I think the biggest issue is how some drivers can turn a pair of shorts into a scruffy rag , I see plenty who wear shorts and they look smart , others zb me , faded , filthy etc , one of our agency idiots thought a luminous lime green pair of swimming shorts was fine to wear as work wear :unamused: , the problem is a lot of drivers need telling how to dress as there not capable of making a sensible decision themselfes

And then at the opposite extreme you have the plebs that drive for Stobarts in their pristine pink hi viz jackets.

I will share this with you all. I was doing a bus job a few years back, take bowlers to an away game leave them to play and drink then fetch them home again, simples. I get them to the game and change into cycling gear as I have the bike in the hold and off I go. Some scrote breaks in to the coach through the emergency exit and steals my trousers and shoes. I have to drive home in shorts with my wonderful passengers singing “Donald wheres your troosers” A true story ,sadly.

I was in a transport yard Friday, usually relaxed there, as I was putting hi-viz a passing office worker said
“Don’t bother with that, it’s too hot”.

No ambulances arrived whilst I was there so I’m assuming no one was run over or injured.
