Similar thing occurred on Friday, we deliver to Hanson concrete products in Somercotes Derbyshire at the end of Birchwood way, 3 trucks went in to deliver passing a correctly parked truck on a night out, when they came out workers had parked opposite the truck blocking the road, luckily he only had 20 minutes of his 9 hours left.

The problem with the disabled and parent and child spaces is that it means other folk have to walk a lot further to get to the door.
Given how fat the nation is getting, people need all the exercise they can get.

Why do car drivers never get out to check if they are in line on parking by the side of a road ?
If they went forward or back a few feet it would allow several more cars to use the parking bays.
My absolute number one pet hate!
i am a blue badge user with proper medical reasons , but it does my head in when i see the tricks other , genuine users get up to . one woman brings her very old dad with his badge , he stays in the car while she does her shopping . another brings her mum , does her shopping and then goes back for food and drink so they can spend an hour eating and chatting . if challenged they always say the badge gives them 3 hours . it’s a maximum not a target . why are the parent and toddler spaces closer to the door than the disabled ? i have to agree that the average blue badge holder has no conception of their surroundings when they aban er park their car .

Unfortunately the signs that someone needs a blue badge aren’t as obvious as seeing a person in a wheelchair.
mental and other illnesses also qualify for a blue badge, I had a mate who was battling terminal cancer who had one. But to look at him you couldn`t tell.
I doubt a genuine disabled person would be offended if you politely asked them if their cause for using the blue badge scheme was genuine.
The criteria for qualifying for a BB is reasonably strict

Motorbikes and mopeds parked in car bays when there is an area for them elsewhere, why is that ?
The area allocated to two-wheelers is frequently minute, only takes one big bike to go in there to make it impossible for any others to do so; some car parks (pretty much all MSA’s) have no allocated space at all. Personally I avoid parking my bikes in car spaces because the Mr. Magoos who frequent such car parks have enough problems seeing parked cars let alone motorbikes, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve had some idiot open their car door in an MSA car park and clatter my Harley with it, “Oh, sorry mate, didn’t see you” etc.
At our local Tesco, the motorbike park is right opposite the cash machines; it’s not uncommon for some fat lazy plonker to bung their car in there while they get cash, rather than park properly and walk an extra fifty yards or so. They only provided a motorbike park at all after myself and a load of other local bikers kicked off about it. At busy times you often have to chuck abandoned trolleys out of it too, again cos the lazy buggers can’t be arsed to take them back.

I asked my wife if she was happy with her shiny, all-the-toys Motability car and the blue badge. She said it was OK but she would much rather have the use of her legs and ditch the wheelchair and mobility scooter once and for all.
My wife totally agrees with you.

I completely agree! if I have been waiting to parallel and some one has got in the space and just dumped it, I will get out and tell them to either go forwards or backwards, has caused quite a few arguments, but I don’t care, I only have a ■■■■■■ 13 year old Corsa and if they wanna scratch it upon their return be my guest.
On another note, my wife drives a Smart car and yes they are small, but they have the turning circle of an Ocean going vessel, and no power steering so can be a pain in the arse to park at times.
My wife has a Blue Badge, she no longer drives herself, and I can use it if I am shopping for her medical supplies or essential equipment even if she isn’t with me, I don’t do that though out of courtesy to others who need the spaces. A relative of mine has a BB because of an old ankle injury and still works full time as a bus mechanic so not every BB holder has serious mobility issues. A lot do park in stupid places though, on street corners etc, and that riles me a little. Getting a badge now is a lot more difficult than it used to be and I know of some folk who have had theirs taken from them after reassessment.
Regarding BB holders having new cars, if they get a certain allowance like my missus does then they are entitled to one on the Motability Scheme, but have to lose part of the allowance to fund it. The car is then replaced every three years whether they want to or not so it is never theirs and for some of the more upmarket vehicles like Range Rover etc they have to put some of their own money towards funding it. We could have one but while I can still maintain our own car the cash allowance is more useful, it doesn’t mean that just because the person has a new(ish) car that they are rolling in money!
Pete.
There were a number of cars parked illegally (on double yellows) outside a building being demolished.
Some masonary fell on a couple of the cars, writing them off.
The same insurers (for both drivers) refused to pay because “the contract was broken” by the parking illegally.
However, this same insurer also cancelled one set of “no claims bonus” (the other guy had “protected”) because they could? To pump sales of “no claims protection”?
Not sure what that was all about.
A blue disabled badge - isn’t that supposed to only allow “free and reasonable parking” - ie in a bay that otherwise would have a time limit?
I’m thinking there’s no rule that says “you can go out of your way to cause an obstruction by your parking” - for anyone whatsoever.
Does “parking eye” dish out PCNs to people parking in disabled bays when they are not disabled?
Parking fines are the new stealth tax.

Incorrect - You can use the car (with its zero road tax) provided it is being used for her benefit, but the blue badge parking concessions can only be used if she is travelling in the car. This is clearly stated in the official “Rights and Responsibilities” booklet:
The badge is for your use and benefit only. It
must only be displayed if you are travelling
in the vehicle as a driver or passenger, or if
someone is collecting you or dropping you
off and needs to park at the place where
you are being collected or dropped.
Do not allow other people to use the badge
to do something on your behalf, such as
shopping or collecting something for you,
unless you are travelling with them
My late dad had a BB but to look at him you wouldnt think he needed it he also had a new car every 3 years as he was in recite of a certain disability allowance
The parent / child are near shop doors so you dont have small children running round the car park I have used them but only when I have had my daughter & grandaughter in the car this was useful not long after she had had her due to having the extra room mine being a low 2 door coupe car & she had a c section ( baby being breach & small ) there is a certain shop that a guy parks there all day he has no child with him ever
The rules for getting a BB is much more strict now & is the use
Parking for motorbikes is normally hidden in a small corner out the way sometimes in the darkest corner of the car park

Oops, sorry, I posted that incorrectly! I meant to say that she IS with me but actually stops in the vehicle, however I very rarely use the badge if she isn’t getting out of it. Our car is taxed normally so that I can use it myself without her being in it, our previous car was registered as ‘Disabled’ but it rather restricted its use so we didn’t bother this time. I know a lad who travels around Britain on his own for work using his mothers Disabled tax free car, happen one day he might get caught but somehow I doubt it! We mostly use the badge at supermarkets as we need the wider spaces to get her wheelchair close to the door, ordinary parking bays are just too narrow.

If the badge holder is staying in the car then you shouldn’t be using it at all, not just “rarely”.

She IS travelling with me, I wouldn’t use it otherwise! I believe it is only illegal for on-street parking which we never do unless visiting her Doctor, we use the main council car park in town or supermarket car parks where she shops with me anyway.
