Nothing worse than a grass in this business which has way to many rules and regs, think of the poor small operators trying to earn a pound. If you cant stand the heat just move on, but dont try and ruin it for others.
it is true many of us were not angels early on in this way of life
how ever your remark is one that deserves a answer which may
convince you that your idiotic remark is one that shows how much
you value your life and those on the road around you, also your means of
earning a living as a driver,
IF more people who are pressured into breaking the law go to
the enforcement officers, then we would find life as a driver
improving , due to less stress , better wages and more respect
you sir need to see some one who can help adjust that failure
which is happening in your brain cell, as unfortunately what
you posted is just utter"" cod,s wallop""BY THE WAY have a nice day
maybe new employer wanted you to “bend” the rules as well but now knew you wouldnt do it so didnt bother going ahead with the job.
to be fair last employer can refuse to give a referance which that in itself speaks a thousand words. i have a problem with my last referance which is freightliner but dont expect that to be glowing.
Would that be in relation to your offroad excursion, Alex?
it could be any number of things… but mainly just bucking the trend of being a sheep, and refusing to say the following " i will do anything for you master, i will do anything for you master, im so grateful for my job. "

Just for reference, Mateyboy who put his landrover on the East Coast Mainline near Selby, one of the outcomes was (I think I’m right) the driver of the coal train was killed and the loco was a write-off. I think there was also an express passenger train involved in that one.

That is why crims have got away with it and are STILL getting away with it because of the “I’m no grass” attitude (Passive acceptance of wrongdoing)
Thanks everyone apart from one ■■■■■■■■ for all your help and support! Been to see them today to explain face to face but they was in meeting so left a letter with them explain all the reasons but don’t hold much hope. As someone has said some things happen for a reason so this might not of been for me, Been to see a few of the drivers this morning and they said they would back me up but as soon as i was in the car driving home i can imagine what they was saying f@@@ him its his own fault. Its just so hard getting the thought of some cocky transport manager having a good laugh while writing my reference! i am so tempted to go to the yard one morning and having a little word in his ear but i dent do it. Also thanks for the wincanton tip just on look out for cheap van then will give them a call as i have no transport at moment as cycled to the last job.
I love how the self-righteous brigade always come flooding out of the woodwork whenever a comment is made about running bent. The best bit of it is that the majority of those doing the moaning are the same ones who did it themselves back in the 70s and 80s when it was the “norm”. This site takes hypocrisy to a whole new level.

But Rob there’s running bent and then there’s running bent.Someone made a claim about 8 wheeler tippers being loaded to around 45 tonnes gross on a different topic and the OP has’nt actually given any clear idea of the scale of hours infringements he was being asked to get involved with.If they’re of the same type of scale as that other example there’s got to be a point where we draw a line and where running bent means something far more serious and dangerous than maybe what some of us did in the 1980’s etc.I was driving all through the 1980’s and can’t ever remember getting involved in anything which I’d consider as being dangerous. It’s the idiots out there who take the zb out of the difference between bending the rules and just totally ignoring them who’ve zb’d it all up for all those who might have been running at 65 mph and /or maybe a bit overweight and/or maybe a bit over there hours.Which is probably why we can’t run under yank type DOT regs.
Hey “stewarrior” forget about blowing the whistle on them to VOSA, you’ll find that HMRC have bigger teeth and are far more vicious when it comes to rule breaking! The phrase “blood from a stone” springs to mind.
The hmrc i no would take theses shower of ■■■■ down as it would be so easy for hmrc to find out they was dodging the tax. I no for sure no come backs on me its the other drivers i worry about as there is a few who have been getting paid this way for year and half to 2 years. I think the drivers would get in ■■■■ as well as they no its not rite so i think they would be made to pay it back? not to sure tho. Any thoughts what i should do for further reference on application forms as i have just got one today? Not the job i want but they are taking drivers on and xmas is coming up and need the money.
my my, how woud you girlymen get on driving wagons in the states without all these rules and regs to protect you? Crashing everyday im sure… As for you guys claiming to have lives away from work, friends and family etc, judging from the frequencie of your posts you have no mates or family apart from trucknet (harry monk?) probly no work either… As for the OP hes obviously not very bright… Keep on trucking dudes…

Yeah right so even on log books the DOT won’t mind if you go way over your hours or run at 44 tonnes gross with a 5 axle artic.

Rob you say that many of us are self -righteous we were or may have been doing this
early on okay but how long did one stay at a customs yard or a border crossing much
much longer than today, also the punishment given out today for working illegal and
not obeying the laws and rules are such that only a idiot would carry one like a
Ostrich with its head buried in the sand, and the stress and traffic is nothing like
the years before ,The way to survive is to adjust and follow the easy route
and not battle one,s way through a storm of Gale force 10 size, and also
still earn a good wage.or am I wrong,■■? you tell me!!

Trying to keep a job and also keep vosa happy all the time at the same time is like battling your way through a storm. It just needs a bit of common sense by the employers, drivers, and vosa and there’s no reason why things should’nt carry on as they always did.As it is now it seems like both the guvnors and vosa are both taking the zb and the drivers are caught in the middle.

Pavaroti if it was up to people like you working 7 days a week would be OK? in my eyes that is greed! This is what happened to another driver about 6 months ago, He was about 12 miles away from getting back to the yard and was out of hours. He phoned to get them to send someone out to come and pick him up and they turned round and said you will have to do a night out he was only in a 7.5 ton and it had no bed in the truck as they no. He was told take taco out and drive home or do a night out (with no bed) He took taco out drove home and got a written warning 3 days later?? He still works for the firm in my eyes he is a fool but going to have a word with some of the lads Monday to see if any of them will back me up?? I suppose the warning was to cover there fat arses…
Tell them you’ve parked the truck up and your wife is on the way to pick you up. Then watch as magically, they find someone to come and pick the truck up
I did that a few years ago, was only half an hour away and was told no one available, so told `em not to owrryas buses run back every 20 mins. Somebody soon came, esp. as one had had a full tank of fuel nicked previously from same spot.

You are wrong. And I will tell you!! Quite simply, regardless of the circumstances/excuses, if you’ve run bent on any occasion yourself then you have no place/right/whatever to be criticising others as it’s sheer hypocrisy. And no I don’t care for your “how would you feel if a tired trucker flattened your daughter” comments that will follow, so save yourself the bother.

Yeah right but your daughter is more likely,if not certain,to be flattened by an 8 wheeler tipper running at around 45 tonnes gross than by one running a couple of tonnes overweight and by a tired driver who’s been awake for 24 hours and who’s still driving than one who’s just gone half hour over his driving time.

And?
Self explanatory I would have thought. But VOSA obviously probably would’nt think so but if they know different and can still apply some common sense let us know.
