I love the Dennis Reminds me of Sunday nights, watching Londons’ Burning
Always wondered why Dennis lorries are so rare; Walk through cabs would be great for urban deliveries.

Wonderful pic of the Scammel -the starting handle looks menacing–anyone remember hand starting an old Gardner–it needed a crew of three i remember

rear view
That Scammell rear view is a very good indication of how the 5th wheel got its name, and that was back in the days when trailer’s were rarely uncoupled and were just a means of carrying extra payload. It was a few years before operator’s realised the versatility of swapping trailer’s around to minimise downtime, and again the Scammell automatic coupling came to the forefront for a rapid turnaround of the vehicle. The company were one of the main inovator’s of the modern transport world, and alas were sold down the river like so many others.
Pete.
