Hello,Hey Ian,I can see where you’re coming from mate,I still think its BAE…heres the original Chivers Transcon,
Not a clear pic so lets see it a bit later on in life.
perhaps a clearer pic but definatly BAE.
A sharper shot and only a few numbers away from BAE106V,but the computer type number plate makes it difficult to see…AE is a Bristol pefix and all the pics were taken in Bristol.
Ian,you’ve even got me getting the magnifing glass out
Cheers Bubbs.
Nice Pic of GAF Heley i remember going to there place in Grays as a boy of 12 to backload for Newcastle. they also had a leyland marathon. happy memories cheers

seeing all those transcontinentals reminded me that when i worked for the Swindon dealer Walker Jackson i met up and drove what the driver claimed to be the first one in the home counties ,boy what a scoop that was to drive ,i was only 19 and only went down to the next junction and back ,does any one remaember the day when the skinny young lad took his transcon for a spin ?
Cheers Bubbs.

Hello again, nice pics Jim…well done mate, heres more from me.
That’s a great photo of Evans 104 Bubbs. I drove 77 and 96 as well as other MK3s,both still going in 1970,then I was upgraded to a MK5. Eventually all the fuel tanks were moved to the offside so as to free up room round the outlet valves. I notice it’s got what looks like a mild steel tank, they were all stainless when I started with them, apart from one aluminium. Two wipers,a rad blind and a spot light - must be shop steward’s motor.
Have you got any more Evans’ photos?

You have read me like a book David. Not a lot of Evans’ pics about, that one is a pearler.
Not exactly paradise here but at least it’s not raining.

Hi again,Heres todays bunch…and another Evans mk3 for Chris
Bubbs you are a star,I drove fleet 123,126 and 127,all out of Sheffield depot,so I reckon she’s a Barking based wagon. The tank is a 6-potter and more than likely bought as seen ex Shell Mex and BP,6 x 600 gall pots = 3600 galls. Later all the 8-leggers had 5 x 800 gall pots = 4000 galls. She’s got sliding doors so will be a Reeves and Kenning cab, handy for aircon when slid back unless fumes from front mounted exhaust crept in.Oh,and watch yer fingers, sometimes those doors closed without warning.
One more thing, what happened to Derek Cooper, they were a Cambridge outfit IIRC with motors all over the show. Were they “Turnerised?” That Ford Cargo has a Tuxford phone number, did they take Walkers over I wonder?
Muckaway:
The Derek Cooper setup as Enstone airfield is now Morcross Transport,
Trevor Matthews took over the Norwich branch but closed it down a couple of years ago. There’s still some Cooper motors running around on scrap metal, probably based at Red Lodge near Newmarket which was always their main depot and workshop.
Hello again, great photos Norfolktrucker and Deanner…well done lads.keep 'um coming.First pic is another for Chris Webb…127 mate ,I think its a Peter Davies shot…

Thanks Bubbs,it is a Peter Davies photo.UYP 879 Fleet 127 was a Sheffield based motor and was on the BP chemicals contract at Saltend,Hull for a bit.The regular driver was upgraded to a “Tin front” MK3 and 127 came back into the tramping fleet. I remember it had the 6-speed box but it was a real heap,a shed;notice the driver with shirt open and passenger side window down. There will be plenty of blankets over that engine cover… )
Spardo:
Thanks for the excellent picture of the K&M tanker Oily. OILY!!!,I’ve been called a few things in my time mate but never Oily
Heres todays stuff from BUBBLEMAN…or BUBBS,Not Oily please

Reminds me of that Mickey Mouse Foden I drove for K&M and mentioned a while back Chris. It was so hot and noisy inside because part of the bonnet had been cut away to allow all the gear changes to be made that you could have taken a shot like that of me in the middle of winter.
The colour scheme on that last Foden looks a bit like Fredericci, the Swiss company who became Foden agents there after the takeover by Paccar. They were already Kenworth agents and ran a fleet of them in Switzerland but I don’t remember them having any UK reg motors.
