bubbleman:
Hello sgain, heres another bunch…including another Clarks motor.
Cheers Bubbs,
great pics again bubbs & although it’s an old one , you may have to take as many as you can of pattens, as i think they’l only be about for a few more years before they dissapear. real shame
in the 80’s they must have been running 25+ trucks , pattens are getting smaller & smaller, couple of years back they were down to 14 trucks & now they’re running about 6 & one of those drivers has just left, so effectivly of next week just 5 remain, apparently as a driver leaves , the units are parked up in the yard until they’re sold
very sad
hiya,
Would love a go in the BRS Bristol just to see if I still could, proper driver’s motor,
guaranteed to get you there and back, wish I’d a quid for every mile I’ve driven one.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
I have driven that one in the picture, 290 HOA it was based at Oldbury (driver John Male ?) and got smashed up on the Llanwern trunk at Usk IIRC. It was rebuilt by the workshop in their spare time but it never went back into the fleet as all the Bristols had been replaced by Guys. It stood for years before Dave Tarbuck from the driving school bought it to take it to shows and rallies.
It has a 150 gardner and brown box and will pass most modern lorries on the motorway with its dummy sheeted load !
bubbleman:
Hello Pete,Gords finished now,his injury with his leg made it difficult for him to walk and getting up into the lorry was very painfull,he’s now passed 65 so he’s done enough…he’s a good pal,we’ve done a lot of miles together.Pete if you’re at a loose end Saturday night our clubs having a lorry slide show at the Fears Institute ,why not come along,Gord will be there
Cheers Bubbs,
Where is the Fears Institute?
Hi Pete,if you go down Keynsham high street from the church its on the right before Charlton Road…and you’re from Keynsham
Ok,following on from Retreivers pic of Munro’s and Smillies lorries having a race, heres a pic from a while ago…I’ve never been a fan of hoss racing but I was willing the 141 to get past the FL10…c’mon c’mon
The boss of Allens’ was talking on local radio the day they closed, citing the cost of diesel. That must’ve been 5 years ago at least. They used to do a lot of bagged aggregate.

That’s a different Allen in the photo to the one who ran out of MultiAgg; MankyAgg had some right heaps of ■■■ masquerading as plant until Earthline (aka Red Arrows ) took over. Earthline have some MAN 8wheelers in MultiAgg colours now, Shellingford pit’s still open but quarrying’s finished at Kempsford.

as my teacher used to say ALL those years ago i should pay more attention to what im doing, asi say i used to run out of multiagg for Colin Bucland with a ERF M Series 6x4 tipper and a Volvo f7 and a volvo FL7.
I was tipping in Hills at Tubney today; Another quarry that’s coming to an end, although they’ve just opened Upwood quarry just down the A338 near Oxford Instruments. Hanson Lechlade hasn’t long left, 3 years as it stands I’ve been told.

Is that the Colin Buckland that used to run a silver F7 on RJ Harvey?
This would have been sold by (what was then) Morville Trucks at Lenton, Nottingham. We had F298 GRR (6x2 tag axle R143 t/unit) and F299 GRR (6x2 tag axle rigid crane lorry + drag).
I belive F298 is still running around Leicester way
