Came across this Land Rover negative today. I know there are those who do not consider Land Rovers as a subject to be shown on this forum but this example surely has a legitimate right to be featured. Taken by Roger Kenney

Those blocks must’ve been heavy to warrant that truck. Wasn’t that a 6x6 with the v10 engine?
Neil.

I’ll bet it was a bugger to manoeuvre in a confined space, long wheelbase with a ■■■■ poor lock.

Hello Pete,Gords finished now,his injury with his leg made it difficult for him to walk and getting up into the lorry was very painfull,he’s now passed 65 so he’s done enough…he’s a good pal,we’ve done a lot of miles together.Pete if you’re at a loose end Saturday night our clubs having a lorry slide show at the Fears Institute ,why not come along,Gord will be there
Cheers Bubbs,
Where is the Fears Institute?
And it is Munro by a nose! Picture by Roger Kenney, he took the picture from the passenger seat of his car - the car’s wing mirror is in the bottom right. Like to know the location, he took a number of shots from this position.

Cheers Dave.

Dave I think that’s an Artic mate.
The Leyland possibly, but the ERF is a rigid. Not sure if the Leyland is an eight legger.Harry will probably know.
Cheers Dave.

Aye a Leyland Beaver artic,they ran a lot of them.It’s a great old photo,wonder where it was taken,it’s a three lane road,non-motorway.Maybe the A1 ?
I stand corrected DDsix. It just looks like a tank on the side of the chassis near the back end,but perhaps its the spare wheel .
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Pretty sure Munro’s motor is a bender Smillies ERF will only be a four wheeler,
and there’s a good chance I knew Smillies driver I knew most of them.

Heres a more recent shot of the same 143, as Andrew and Marcus said now with Pete Chamberlain [kingtrucker143] and still based in the Bristol area. Still very much a working truck. Pete even goes over the water in it [Isle of Wight]

She’s a credit to you mate, very nice indeed.
Thanks very much, it keeps me interested in driving, which is hard in these days of boring trucking.
Regards Pete.
Well most of it’s all been said , but I am convinced the Munro is an artic and the Smillie one of their many, from my memory anyway, four wheelers.
And Harry was right, they did pay well, Smillie’s were definitely on my return load list from Scotch. And I know about the money because I was on a percentage at Midlands Storage.
