Love seeing the Swindon Brs wrecker again , it was a fleet tractor unit (most likely truck rental then on general then a a wrecker)

That’s “a face only a mother could love” !!!
I think that funny looking motor is a bedford TM with 290 ■■■■■■■ the reason I know is that ones reg is egc156x I had egc 157 we also had egc 159 I knew of egc158 and there is on this thread I think a pic of egc 155 marked up for “cosby doors” painted orange the 2 on the firm I worked for were also orange before being painted , but I dont know what firm owned them I am assuming it was not cosby doors but a transport firm doing cosbys work, not sure if I like that funny grill though , fredm

Taken on Great George Street in Rochdale outside the now demolished Carlton Club.
Yes, I believe the location is detailed in the book in which this picture appears. I remember spending a few hours identifying the location for additional information for the caption. It’s a great shot.
ps spot the spelling error

I know this road well didnt recognise it from the picture at first . It is parked outside what used to be the main night club in Rochdale in the 90s . Great pic

That’s brave…using a Roadtrain as a wrecker, mind you I suppose it could hook itself onto any lorry and get itself towed in with all that lifting gear on it

A bit of useless LEC trivia; The company owners son was ex racing driver, David Purley(RIP). He was awarded a George Medal (or Cross, I don’t know what the difference is) for trying to rescue fellow F1 driver Roger Williamson from his burning car in the '73 Dutch Grand Prix. The footage is on YouTube, where the marshalls stood and did nothing.

Heres a more recent shot of the same 143, as Andrew and Marcus said now with Pete Chamberlain [kingtrucker143] and still based in the Bristol area. Still very much a working truck. Pete even goes over the water in it [Isle of Wight]
Neil.
