It brings back memories of driving real lorries, not just a time and place but something else that’s disapeared.

Congratulations Marc - what an achievement.
Looking at the number of page views, I think it’s fair to say you’ve made a lot of people very happy (and probably feel very old!!!)
Nice to touch to get Harry’s old motor and mine in that last post.
Cheers again

Keith if there’s any shine about the motor it sure won’t be down to me could’ve been raining earlier, bit of a power house in those days the old girl had a 220 ■■■■■■■ in her and although a bit of a thirsty devil it was a good old tub that’s the one i had to sacrifice for a bleedin Scania 80 did one trip in the Scanny and asked for this old girl back did’nt get it so chucked it.
thanks harry long retired.
This is one brilliant thread Bubbleman thanks very much for making it possible for us to see some amazing history throughout these pages. I’ve enjoyed many hours clicking through the pictures & I hope it continues for a long time yet.

It’s a triff thread, Marc, thank you very much!! And I knew Harry would soon spot the old Atki
Here are a few random pics I’ve taken myself, to help the thread towards 300…
What was the model called (Atkinson 6wheeler rigid)? I know the 8s were Defenders?
the 6 wheeler rigid was the Searcher, but what was the twin steer unit called? I know the 4 wheeler was a Raider, or not, as it wasn’t a proper factory name, read that on here somewhere I’m sure, just showing off really as I know SFA about Atkis, except for being glad I never had to drive one, that I’m dead sure about

That particular one has the snappy title of “Silver Knight Rear Steer Mk.2” but the later version, the 38 tonner, was the Leader. ‘Raider’ was a factory name, one of the list devised by Frank Whalley, but was never actually put into official use.
Oh, and the blue one is actually quite comfy to drive!
Hello again,Hey Harry…fancy that Atki being your old one,I’ve had that photo for years…I think its one of Arthur Ingrams pics but theres no copyright on it,I’ve a few from him taken at this spot and I’m sure its the M1 which I suppose would have been the route south to Dover from Blackburn…anyway its good that you remembered the nice lorry cos we KNOW the other one you disliked
.
Also thanks again for the kind remarks,I wont commit myself to posting pics every day but when I saw the comments I felt I’d be letting everybody down if I didnt try to continue, having said that I will run out of pics one day…so lets see how we go…ok.
Heres todays stuff.
Cheers Bubbs,
Well thats 201 may as well carry on till 300 !!!
I’ve just sent a bit on the Atkinson Twin Rear Steer but it hasn’t posted and I can’t be bothered to write it all again, extremely annoying! Anyway previous to the named models of 1970/71 seen below, the Black, Gold and Silver Knight Series of models had complicated number and letter designations, these were still in use for the later named models but as with most makes names are easier to recall, the Twin Rear Steer Tractor before 1970 was the Silver Knight RTS3266C meaning Rear Twin Steer tractor 32 Ton GCW 6 wheeled 6 cylinder ■■■■■■■ engine. The later TRS.3868XB also meant Twin Rear Steer 38 Ton GCW 6 wheeled 8 cylinder Gardner LXB engine, but as we know it the ‘Leader’. Diluted version of what I wrote before so hope it doesn’t confuse! Cheers Franky.
Hi Marc, you do a good job boy!
I WONT “quote” a whole set of fotos as some people do and clog up the thread just to make a short comment about one foto…that does wind me up 'cos I’ve only got an AMSTRAD 1512 (circa 1980) and a dial up modem with limited download megabits PAYG limited monthly…DO YOU HEAR ME OUT THERE! It uses up peoples credit who really want to look in here…Oh! Sorry, where was I? Ah yes, what is that Entress motor, there didn’t seem to be a manuf. badge on it and i’ve not seen one before?

It was a Magirus Deutz, used to see them in South Wales when me and my Eric Poss, were there with Brady’s Octopus and trailer.I believe that for some reason Entress used to remove all the badges, even of the early F86s they ran.Must have been embarrased at running foreign motors in the mid/late 60’s so maybe thought that if the badges were removed they would pass for Atki’s and ERF’s ect.Cheers Bewick.
