Hi John, heres a similar cab on this Mandator, this was an Oldland Motor Bodies cab.
Here is where the cabs were made,at Oldland Common, near Bristol…incidently this is where I served my apprenticeship,I enjoyed my time there but 4 days after doing my “time” I left to drive a seven and a half tonner…doing what I really wanted to be Who’d a thought a few years later I’d end up driving for Western Transport.
Heres the rest of todays stuff
Cheers Bubbs,
Hiya bubbs …thanks for the info on the oldland body builders i,ve never herd of them…
It looks like we did the same when young I worked at Jennings body builders which
belonged to ERF… in the early seventies trucks was not selling and short time was on
the ariozon so out i got at 21 and onto the trucks…
nice one of the Tideswells MK5. philip sutton who lived across the road
from me drove that truck he’s been mentioned before on site as he later worked on Rokold

Thanks for the photo of my old 290 F88 RVG271R.This was taken after i gave the lorry up for a LHD 140 scania. The driver in your photo was Roy Hunt who died a few years ago.The photo looks like it was taken around walthamstow area where Roy lived.I picked the lorry up when it was brand new from duffields of norwich and drove it for about 18 months. It was owned by Terry Creasey who ran SGH transport in wapping east london and put on contract to the dutch hanging garment firm Bleckmanns. The lorry would do 3 trips a week from london up to oldenzaal so it had plenty of miles on it.When SGH went nap it was repo,d with the rest of the lorrys.

hi lads ,marcus you do bring many memories back, the d&d of dundee photo, the girl in the traffic office at dundee was one of the first multi tasker personnel i ever saw, a phone to each ear talking to who ever was on the phone’s and be typing your notes out at the same time,
now a days your lucky if you can get someone to answer the phone with out getting numbers to press,
keep them coming mate, bumper
anybody answer this ? that BLECKMAN F88 is that the one that PTM of Reading used to have ? i could be wrong as normal but the registration is familiar or is it still on the show scene ?
Hiya,Glad the memories are coming back for some of you…nice shot of your 88 in the line up Boyzee,I’ve another shot of it somewhere so I’ll dig it out.
Todays stuff.
Us oldies may remember the old advertising campain which included the tune “A Double Diamond works wonders”…well it would have to work wonders to put this old BMC back together again
…Another song which comes to mind is “Roll out the barrell”
Cheers Bubbs,
