I wonder if Bewick Haulage, gaffer Dennis, backloaded Sammy Williams, the A591 was his territory? Probably not, they look like stillages out of Albright and Wilson/Marchon at Whitehaven for delivery to Proctor and Gamble at Purfleet.
Harry would have liked the Scania 80,bless him!

As an afterthought those stillages could be full of live trout, poached by Dennis on his days off and on their way to posh snaphouses in London.

I think that shot was taken in Windermere southbound! Trust Mr.Webb to introduce a bit of “black economy” onto the thread! I’ve done my share of ----------- in the moonlight,“Underbarrow Dam” the hotest spot in England when the salmon were running!! Nothing as exhilerating as being chased by a beckwatchers labrador across a moonlight field( and hearing it run back from where it came from after it er! ran into something hard!!) Now if Sammy’s motor had been loaded with Arctic Char out of Windermere, now you’d be talking mega bucks when he pulled into Billingsgate!! worth a lot more than Salmon and taste better as well.Dennis.

Great Pics Marc but if Harry sees all those SC!!! 80s he will take to the bottle big time and the bathroom will never get done
cheers Johnnie

Is that an early Sky dish on the top of the cab?

Is that an early Sky dish on the top of the cab?

No they are the lifting rings for Dennis’s trout tanks

Actually the predecessor to Octobins and Polybins

A.E Evans bought one of those Mammoth Minors off Thomas Allen, and the registration looks familiar so could have been that very one.It came off a contract called Tank Ferry Trailers I think and was based at either Hull or Immingham. It was coupled to a 6600 gall spirit tank and one of our drivers got pulled by the Ministry on the A18 between Scunthorpe and Immingham and was told that it was overlength by a few inches, can’t remember how many.I took it out once or twice and it was a decent tool,a better ride than the two-axled Mandator.

One of the places they were made was Warwick, can’t remember the name of the company , but they were called “Totebins”

Samuel Williams Atkinson was my dads lorry which he drove from new HLO 21C . I have posted the same photo of this lorry on the Samuel Williams thread but your photo shows more of the trailor have you any idea where it might have been taken please. Great thread allways enjoy looking.

Chris. TFT or Tank Ferry Trailers sent a lot of unaccompanied trailers over, and there were occasional self drives from Hull. It was a company with a few identities and probably ended up being swallowed by RTT or Hoyer as it it became. TFT were at one time part of Konig Jawico Rombouts. H&P Freightways in Hull were the agent I remember, but before Hutchinson and Page came to Hull I am not sure.
