Hi all,Revman…heres Petes picture in full. The lad “horizontal” in the bunk is my old pal Ivor Weekes.

Heres Ivor on the left with me on a night out somewhere :open_mouth: This was in the days before Western Tpt and Coldlink joined together to create Novacold

Now onto todays bumps and scrapes :frowning:

My old man had one of these as a 4 wheeler and that was a pile of crap, god knows what it went like as a 6 wheeler :unamused:

On the back of the pic it says it was a Dodge…wow!!!

Spardo:
And to think we were in awe of the beer crates and kegs - what about those milk churns?

Blob of glue on the bottom of every one, I think. :unamused:

If only they did that to the gold in the “Italian job”

Perhaps that was ‘the great idea’ that Michael Caine had, but they rolled the credits before he could put it into practice.

There was a competition a while back to come up with a feasible idea to save the gold, can’t remember what it was now though. :unamused:

I quite like the sentiment on the Atki, next to the phone number. RIP

RIPpleway

Hya Bubbs - happy new year (not been here for a bit) nice pics again, just thinking back though - I’m sure Novacold were already Novacold before Westerns became part of them (I think they had the old big coldstores on Trafford Park (near GKN) back in the late 70’s, early 80’s maybe?

Hi Hayday, yes mate you’re dead right…I was being a bit economical with my words ,perhaps I should have put …before Western Tpt and Coldlink joined together to create the TDG corperate identity of Novacold  .

A few more bumps and scrapes :frowning:

Drive carefully lads :sunglasses:

Cheers Bubbs,

All of those look bad enough and the Atkis in particular seem to be totally unsurvivable, but it was often said back in the day that with a ‘plastic’ cab you may well be popped out injured but alive whereas well crushed metal trapped you inside.

I always thought that with an Atki, especially a Mark 1, the best place you could be was down in the footwell below the level of the engine. Not that that was something you could choose to do probably and, in the case of an overturn that was a different outcome completely.

Seatbelts, I hate, the thought of being strapped in with no choice is anathema to me, I never wore them in a wagon (and before I retired the law was never enforced to my knowledge) and only wear them to avoid prosecution these days in the car, clipped to hang loose though.

Unlucky drivers from the Colchester area, & it certainly wasn’t the Trumans (p*ss poor) beer in them days!

Come on then Bubbs - What’s this then :open_mouth:

It’s only the air filter that gives it away!

Trev.

F86.

Muckaway:
I saw a fantastic Commer cattle lorry yesterday on the A40 Witney bypass; Not the Maxiload type cab but the earlier one.; Painted grey and had I think white signwriting on it. Sounded as good as it looked going up Cogges Hill

I think I have seen that one about as well!

Drive carefully.

Cheers Bubbs,

Another Atki for you
Accident on M62 1970s.JPG

Only my personal viewpoint but do you not think that the theme of showing results of accidents should now end - I am sure that within all these pictures some poor souls either lost their life or were seriously injured. That we somehow derive some form of entertainment from them just seems a little unhealthy. As I said at the beginning - just my point of view.

Robin…those were the last of the accident photos yesterday,as I remarked at the begining some were not nice but did anyone not want to see them.No one came back to say no…the ones I put up were the softer ones…there wont be any more.
I thought it was an interesting bunch of photos which showed old lorries in accidents, there was no intention of upseting people so apologies to anyone who took offence.

Marcus.

No offence from my point of view Bubbs, in fact some good is more likely to come from showing and remembering some of these, I know if I see a particular bad one on the road, it has the effect of at the very least backing off a couple of Ks, and/or thinking about my next reaction to something maybe differently, so keep them coming and if anybody doesn’t like them…simple, don’t look.

hiya,
Marc I’m with Robroy nothing to shy away from. no’one said nay because most people wanted to see them, these things happen and are shown “live” on TV and featured front page in newspapers and also “as it happened” on You Tube, for me good buddy keep em coming and for the “No’s” in this life they can always turn the page, and I bet there aren’t too many of them, keep up the good work Bubbs.
thanks harry long retired.

bet that job getting the concrete out of the drum befor it set was hot work
