Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Hello lads,heres todays selection

Cheers Bubbs,

I haven’t seen a Bostock’s of Congleton for ages, in fact the last time was at Leyland when I was there in 1990ish with my ERF tractor now owned by Craigs of Deny. Bostocks were there with an A series ERF 4 legger with a sleeper cab and it was driver by Gary Bostock.

This was blue and belonged to an owner driver on contract to Terram pipes, he part ex’d it to Walls for a later Sed Atk [big Iveco cab] and they put it to use with the Landoll recovery trailer as seen here. History repeated itself when Walls replaced it with a later Sed Atk 6x4 with a big crane behind the cab.

That’s a nice looking E10 there Bubbs - Is she still alive?

Hi Toddy2…I got made redundant from Novacold on Dec 31st 1997…I started straight away for TNT,3 weeks after I started for them I bumped into the ERF on Leigh Delamere services and got chatting to the driver, his firm had just bought her and she was off to live in Paddock Wood…I heard a few years ago that she got impounded by Her Majestys Customs and Excise after bringing naughty things into the country.I was told they got suspicious because she was too old for TDG to be sending her over the water and they gave her a “tug”…so there is a chance that its still about albeit under lock and key.I know certain members on here can go on the DVLC site and see when lorries were last taxed or exported…if somebody could check for me I’d be gratefull.Heres another shot of her

Evening all, ERF E series, back in the 80s I had some 14litre ■■■■■■■■ and one 10litre on a contract with a “blue chip” client, the contract was on 5yrs at 175000miles per year per vehicle. They never ever let me down, performed inside budget,(even the 10litre), achieved their buy back figure, ended up with my friend Malcolm Harrison, and he sold them on succesfully. What cracking motors, and what good lookers, that E Series cab was in my opinion really handsome, and I always found them comfortable to drive. H122-128JBF you did me well, I wonder if any of you have survived? Cheerio for now.

I agree, the E series was a very nice looking lorry, they looked good in both traditional and modern liveries, my personal favourites were those of Tate and Lyle, dark blue cab with a stainless tank behind and almost always clean due to the nature of their work.

Hi lads, heres todays pics…an old BRS AEC to start with…look at the “bling” on the TK…2 mirrors :open_mouth: :open_mouth: and a bit of string!!..Luxury

Hi Bubs

here is the link to the DVLA website for checking out motors

taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPo … =directgov
just click on the vehicle enquiry tab & away you go

BTW your old E10’s last tax disc expired on my birthday

I saw a fantastic Commer cattle lorry yesterday on the A40 Witney bypass; Not the Maxiload type cab but the earlier one.; Painted grey and had I think white signwriting on it. Sounded as good as it looked going up Cogges Hill

Hello lads, heres a bunch of pics which are a bit of a change…They are all copyrighted to Numbum who’s a regular contributer to the scrapbook.

Some interesting photos yeah, well I would think the drivers all got out safely and walked away. There are a few more pics like these which could be shown but the cabs on the lorries are completely destroyed and its possible the driver never made it   …If you think its ok to post them then let me know, they are all from the 60s so 50 years has passed by now.
DRIVE SAFELY LADS!!!
