John Allen Transport were still running those F10s/12s in the late 90s: They didn’t look out of place in Multi Aggs quarries who they did a lot of work for

Hello again,Some of you may have noticed I’ve had a few problems posting pics,I hope the problem is solved now 'cos my pal has tweeked my PC to cope with the picture resizer…lets hope its better Sorry but you’ve got to endure more of my old pics
Well that took 5 minutes to do,before tweeking that would have taken at least half an hour and loads of ■■■■■■ and blinding
Cheers Bubbs,
Your pics are still well worth looking at Marc.I have to re-size all of my pics these days.Keep them coming mate.
Cheers Dave.

Chris Miller is still in operation, remember his relation Steve Miller O/D with Hills of Swindon ?Hibbards closed a while ago ,Mr Hibbard still counting his millions ,more details of the Hino ,who and where did you load !
I’ve seen a Scania with ?-CMT on, but no writing and someone told me he’d packed up. I used to drive a loading shovel at Gill Mill quarry before going on the road; Hibberds’ Hino was one of the lorries I hated loading due to it’s small body…others were Webbs of Armscote, Chris Gilberts’ Cargo 6w and Dave Buckinghams’ Scania; The tippers might’ve well been flatbeds they were so low
you sure hibbard WAS a hino and not an Styer cabbed ERF ?
Pretty sure…then again I’d often try to hide behind a stockpile and hope the other shovel driver would load it
Something a little older. A Roger Kenney pic taken in Liverpool. A perfect place for lorry photographers (this is the era of ‘lorries’ not ‘trucks’) as can be seen from the traffic. He took quite a few pictures at this location.

That’ll be Dave at the wheel: That carries nearly 12tonnes, Derek Webb has an F reg one parked in his yard that carries the same but at 17mgw: The sides are even shallower on that

Cheers Bubbs,
Nice to see that P&H ERF Bubbs, does anyone remember Bill (Pipeman) who used to drive for them years ago? He was a friend of a mate of mine & he regularly parked up in Michaelwood services. A nice bloke.
I’m glad your mate’s got the PC sorted out, Keep em coming Bubbleman, prizewinning thread mate.
hi bubbs, hope you don’t mind if i stick these photos on your page, these may bring back some memories for some older member’s especially the bucket and brush to wash the motor with:lol: bumper
The first one, the Ainscough’s Beaver was driven by John Parr, who shared a wagon on shifts with my dad at Allied Mills @ Seaforth from when the mill opened in the early 70s until he finished in 1995. I have another picture of this motor which appears to be from the same set - being washed down in exactly the same spot outside the garage, but from a different angle. John drove a variety of motors at Ainscough’s from the 1934 Hippo (now owned by the Pyatt brothers from Cheadle, Staffs) up to ERF E-Series at Seaforth when he retired. He did tell me that he was the last driver of the Hippo before it was disposed of.
There’s a bit of a tie-in between the Ainscough’s Beaver and the Newbould AEC and Sharrocks van. John drove the Beaver and once he’d moved to Seaforth, he (& the rest of the drivers there) delivered flour to both Newboulds (@ Bradford & Sheffield) and to Sharrocks at Bredbury, Stockport.
Muckaway:
The Pyatt Bros Hippo; Is that the one where the driver dresses in period overalls at shows? If so it’s stunning…
No idea - after one of them walked away while myself & an associate were in the middle of a conversation with him, I tend not to concern myself with them. The phrase ‘you only get a grunt from a pig’ sprung to mind - and has stayed there ever since with regard to him…

I’ve encountered similar at rallies; more so with traction engines and tractors but occasionally with lorries. It makes you wonder why they attend shows if that’s how they behave.

I tend to treat as I find. The family have done a great many excellent restorations, but a little civility went amiss that day - which has tainted my perception henceforth.
I am not sure whether Thomas Boag Greenock was related to Thomas Boag in Stoneferry Hull, both were bag makers, the Greenock factory was in George Square and the Hull factory was down Foster Street. Maybe a co-incidence.
Yes Chris, a proper old haulier was Campey from Selby. (old before their time)
I got an email from neartic;
you have a photo on site of an Albion artic AVS 593 that was my fathers old
truck, the bag store was in St Andrews Square although the livery was Thomas
Boag the truck were of The Greenock Transport Company owner Jim Evans brings
back memories of him picking me up from school in it
