Never thought of that Johnnie!Come to think of it the last time the wife and I were in Cyprus we nearly got cleaned up by a tipper1 I wonder if it was “The Bubbs” on an exchange holiday with a cypriot driver?(there are some lunatic tipper drivers in the UK at holiday times as-well.)But then Bubbs could have been running over the “Green Line” into the Turkish side-----the rates would be better!!! Dennis.

Seeing those old Leyland pics, anyone know a firm called Moodies Transport? They’ve got a Leyland T45 8 wheel log wagon, Y reg I think. Saw it a few days ago near Witney.

Freightline of Bristol, they were part of Curries of Dumfries, note also the ex CRS trailer.

Yeah, i`m wrong. Realised it was Davis of Corby as soon as I had posted it.

Nice set of Smythe photos there Marcus. Especially the F12 with the drums on the back.

It certainly is one of H.C.Davis’ of Corby. One of three sold to an exporter about a year ago.

those smythes boys must have cost the company a fortune in number plates…

Bubbs mate,
you a dead set legend, thanks heaps for the Smythe’s pics. They took me back to being a truck mad 10 year old in the mid eightys, standing by the side of the road waving my arms like a nut nut at the Smythe’s boys as they swept past.
Cheers mate

Come on guys after reading that road test you’ll all be ringing your boss begging to ordre one for you on monday 53mph and !!! 6.7 bhp per ton !!!.
How times have changed.
regards derek

It was 6bhp perton when 32tons came in wasnt it? Which screwed the Gardner 180s - is it still the same? Anyone know what years it came in and subsequently changed (if it did at all). 192 for 32 tons - haha! 228 for 38 tonners - no wonder those F7s were so slow…
