Dave the Renegade:

Hi Marc,
Got this pic at a craft sale in Bettws-y-coed a couple of years ago.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Now who’s going to have a job remembering these, excuse but if you look very closely at the first steamer i was the fireman on that and Norman was the driver, just having a breather until the tatties roasted.
thanks harrylong retired.

It’s got a drag on Harry so you’ll have doubled up as trailer lad/stoker and drawn more money that Norman. Hope you didn’t clatter that arch in Conway if you were going through.

hiya,
Chris when i started doing delivery work with a wag and drag had an elderly trailer boy who i’ve mentioned before he was a former wag and drag man of many many years standing only failing eyesight had put him in the passenger seat and if he was’nt getting a bigger pay packet than me he should have been he was a legend if i could say i got somewhere near as good as him that would have done me fine. Anyway i’m off on holiday now see you in a couple of weeks.
thanks harry long retired.

Hiya…graham the answer is yes. the standard brick and coal mine was together. i have looked up on a Buckley site and it said there was 128 brick yards in the Buckley area.and 28 pubs to spend you wages.
Cheers John

Is this the place still going near the M6 motorway

Me at work 1979. One thing I learned not to do when on top was to look up at a passing areoplane as it made me loose my balance.
One of the drivers had a dip stick with the rivet removed from the crosspeice so it could be slid up or down to “adjust” the reading.
I imagine Chris Webb has come across things like this.

Punishment wagon.

PC Plod is on the case.

Could have a few mishaps with this one.

Another gone by the look of it as they recently had the DAF franchise in Barford. Looks like Imperial (Lex Tillotson) have taken that on…

Enjoying catching up, as ever. Thanks again Bubbleman and all.
I must have seen that old bullnose Merc of Bowdens of Okehampton a thousand times. They bought it about the same time as my old man got his cab-over 1418 for Tone Vale Transport - end of '65, so the ‘L’ plate is a bit of a mystery - and they kept it for donkey’s years. I used to see it hauling pit props so you can tell how long ago that was.
