Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

hello sugar ray.
the 88 you refer to was quite possibly owned by a civil engineering firm called pipe jacking of taffs well (formally maberley parker ltd) GHB 549N. it used to be painted dark green and was used on low loader work. please feel free to correct me if i am wrong.
regards graham.

I thought you’d like the Scania pics Harry. If you look closely at the 81 boxvan there’s a dolly at the back ready to pick up and shove onto a 24 ft box for the trunk to Maltby from Hitchin. That heap of crap ended it’s days at Maltby and was spare drawbar motor on nights,it was about the same as the 82 I got after the Transcontinentals went - absolute rubbish. All I can say is that t’heater, mirrors and cab light were all ok and that’s about all. Here’s a pic of the 82 I got, taken on Woodhead one morning…I felt like running over it t’edge many a time, but to be fair it never let me down.

Cheers Dave.
