The Georgeson F12 was from the small fleet of Tommy Georgeson, who operated from various locations in West Lancashire and beyond. When I was at school (when this motor was new) he used the yard of Alfred Price in Burscough and ran a couple of Atkinson Borderers (with 8LXBs in them) out of there. I think this Volvo might’ve replaced one, it’s certainly around that time.
The motor was supplied by Lancashire Trucks at Kirkby and the reason I know this is that my neighbour at the time bought VKA 848V, which was also an F1217 of similar spec to 857V (apart from the front fog lights and plastic Hatcher top tank) and was delivered around the same time - August/September 1979.
Georgesons are still operating and the last time I saw a gaggle of their motors, they were parked up the drive of a detached house at Duxbury Park, Chorley - two or three DAF XFs.
Mark, is that the same Georgeson? Tom Georgeson had a 4-wheeler or two on local work for us most days at Bowker, mainly in the late 90s. As you say, he ran from Chorley (I forget the address) but they were all in a maroon livery.
Yes. that would be the same Georgesons Chris. The livery has changed but it’s still the same firm. I think 857V must’ve been one of a few that Lancashire Trucks had taken to a show because there’s one of Dobsons in a similar setting showing a Liverpool registration mark.
Tom Georgeson is still going, he’s got about 6 I think mostly Daf tractors plus a Scania 6 wheel flat that Young Tom drives, he’s been at it some years & still does a days graft himself. Always look well with plenty of paint on them & real signwriting.
HI Bubbs ,
remember seeing 'HEV 1T- still in original colours well into the mid to late 90s think it may have been owner driven then, on traction/container work
Hey Bubbs this transcon Hevit we bought and used it on European work, and a member on here sent me some pics
of some other transcons we had,and amongst them were the same registered motor OWC 818V,that we had, dont know
if it was before we had it ,then found another pic a different color, same reg We had for maybe seven or eight years,
was a 4435 so it and it flew, the old firm still had it when i left along with 5 other transcons, the first pic is when we had it.
not my pic though
Iv never seen it this color before, dont know who owned it then
Heres some of our other transcons we were running
Hello again, great Transcon pics from MOC,thanks for sharing them with us.heres todays bunch.
Heres a handfull to drive,I’d love to see the look on some of todays “drivers” if the keys were thrown at them and were told “get on with it!”,…old Harry Gill would be first in line to have a go!!

Harry Gill would love that old Mytton Mills old girl. Maybe the only one on here that could drive it.
hiya,
Would need oxygen just to climb in the cab nowadays, but have given it a good coat of looking at, lovely old girl, the youngsters would soon pick it up as i’ve said previously my early “trailer boy” was an elderly chap who’s eyesight was failing he had driven the things for about forty years so we did a good job between us and he quickly licked me into shape, i was lucky to have that sort of experience at my disposal, that man could put one of those rigs anywhere and when i was going wrong in the early days he was there to keep me right, he’s been gone for nearly fifty years now but i’ll never forget him, he was so modest and thought I was brilliant because i could drive an artic which was something he had never done i was a self taught artic driver and it only took me a couple of hours to get a good idea with them had driven eight wheelers and drawbars previously but not “properly” just depot to depot “trunk” start off in a straight line end journey the same way but this time it was different places to back into some only a little wider than the trailer but as i’ve said a brilliant guy to untie any knots i got myself into and there where many in the early days of delivery work.
thanks harry long retired.
Hi Bubbs
That last 140 of Taylers brought back a few memories
In 84/5 we brought three v8 motors off Taylers and this was one of them. It was a none runner when we had it and rebuilt it as you see it. With a double drive back end off an old 110, a s/h 141 engine, upt the out put of the fuel pump, fitted the older H4 turbo. It pulled and went like a train.
This photo was taken in France on our last trip abroad. we sold it to a local firm Vin Huxley who sold it to someone in the Channal Isles to move Locos.
KEEP them coming Marc that Taylor’s of Lichfield was tippers and Tankers as I used to know a few of their drivers as some were Yorkshire lads and would often require a lift down to Lichfield.
Hi again, good info DD(Keith) and Sammy,I’ve one other Scanny of Taylors but its not where its supposed to be…anyway have a look at the first pic,I reckon its Taylors.

Bubbs… back in 82/83 I sold a 240 silver grill F88 to a guy from the Bristol area it was fitted with a 290 engine a bit rough, but the drive train was ok. I think the reg was FBT 219L, don’t suppose you came across it at all, or if anyone knows anything about the origin, I bought it off a guy caleed Ian Parker from Birmingham.
