Hi Bubbs, that’s a great photo of the AECs,one of the best I’ve seen.
I used to rope boxes on like that as well

Hiya…you can spend some time looking at that MK5 can’t you Chris…Just think we would look at that
just like the young lads look at a 580 Scania. or a 610 Volvo. Its a pitty they don’t realise what a special
motor they was,Even without all the trimmins not even a bonnet cover.
John

Aye,John.Chrome bumper, wheel trims/step ring,a spotlight and the plastic AEC letters on the rad - must be t’shop stewards tractor.Looks like a “C” 65 reg so would be one of the last I suppose.

Ready for work - when do I start?

Hiya Chris, you can take this one, all roped and sheeted and ready to go

Ray

I wonder what happened to Coates of Cosby, they were a big company at one time.
That’s a fine photo of the Smith and Robinson Foden, another company I remember well  .

hi Marcus, R&N transport that’s a blast from the past, there original yard was on lime st, ran 8 leggers atkies think they had only 3or 4 motors at that yard, Hollands took them over and moved to portobello, new a couple of driver that worked for them jimmy Clarke, Geordie beatty . they often got weekended on the south coast, think west ■■■■■■■■■■ farmers to them over, then they closed down, the groans kippers leyland brought some memories back as well they used to stop for breakfast at the cafe on newgate st morpeth that was in the days when the A1 ran through morpeth, anyone remember that cafe, think it closed early 60Ti’s this thread seem to trigger of so many memories   keep them coming mate, bumper

heres a couple of my old ones

the 110 is still going today, a film company bought it.
the f12 got exported to africa.

Well done Marcus, another cracking selection.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the picture of A.J White’s D series, “Chalkie’s Cruiser”, it was called.

I would have been about 11 years old or so and remember it brand new at the dealers.
It caused quite a stir at the time with air horns, exhaust stacks, West Coast mirrors and sunvisor etc as it was the first “customised” truck through the dealership.

I dont know how long Chalkie ran it or what happened to him as I never saw anything else with his name on it.

It was blue, be great if someone had a clour photo of it.

cheers
Mark

Hello,Glad the last pics brought back a few memories   …nice stuff ed209,do you remember who ran the 110 as a unit, perhaps Pat (aniacs) might know…he laid a lot of these to rest

Hi John, nice photos, did you get a tan?
Bubbs,I remember the Glass Glover Scania 82M very well,it was the first one they bought for MFS on the Littlewoods contract. The photo was taken at our Maltby depot and I was shunting at the time the picture was taken.I think it was taken on behalf of Camerons at Barnsley who were the local Scania agents.I also remember how gutless the 82s were as well

hiya,
Chris the Scania 80 series were great motors for transporting glider engines.
thanks harry long retired.
