Hello again, lots of us cut our teeth on "D"series Fords…I’ve had a few in my time, heres a few for today,
Hope these are of interest.
Cheers Bubbs.
Would these be the predecessor of Saints before 1973?
Hi Wheelnut, Carrols transport was run by Martin Carrols of Saints father. Martin went out on his own. Martins son now runs Saints, forget his name but its french iirc. Carrols transport livery was black and yellow, Saints being white.

Hello, glad to see the old Fords creating some interest ,Trunkera1…wasn’t that N.G.Williams,I seem to recall they did work for Westinghouse, they had an F88 6x4 too.
Mixture today, first is one of W&J Ridings in trouble
Hope these are ok
Cheers Bubbs.
hiya,
Marc surprised to see Riding’s “being a former jockey there” coming unstuck like that and especially on that stretch of road, for goodness sake they was more numerous than ants along there, bit of bad planning from that outfit which is most surprising.
thanks harry long retired
Hi Harry, yep mate…you’d a thought there would have been a low loader in a fleet the size of Ridings…red faces all round that day I should think.
Bubbs.

It was Jac W Herreveld that decided my career path, it was also them that chose my first vehicle after seeing a colour photograph of a DAF 2600 in Arnold Worralls office in Thompsons of Beverley when they were still the DAF agent.
Keep them coming.
Seeing the Pre-Star ( Luton) Ford Transcontinental,I never knew Pre-Star ran trucks. Can anyone tell me if they ran general haulage or just own account. If I remember, they used to sub contract for Vauxhall making things like ladder racks for HA vans for GPO.Coffeeholic, can you enlighten please??

From what I can remember extrucker, they only used to haul thier own goods, I used to see them regularly running from Bedford to Bourn airfield nr cambridge, they also had a Bedford KM artic with a V6 detroit in it, Grey cabs with Black chassis.
Thanks Lemonmouth, being Luton born n bred,I remember Pre-star,had a factory in Hitchin Rd,but I dont remember seeing any liveried trucks.Perhaps I just missed seeing them,or old age is rapidly setting in
Hello then,heres another bunch.
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs.

You can only spot Cullimores local now can’t you, I think the long distance side packed up ( I maybe wrong ) a few years ago I saw one of there 8 leggers up near Leeds, when I was in there pit at Ashton Keynes a couple of weeks later, I mentioned seeing it, and was told it was because it was stolen. You wont see a Cullie’s much further out than Gloucester.
