Fascinating that, we had enough trouble in Italy, let alone Saudi.
Its a great thread many thanks, and a Happy 2010 to it and everyone else too!
I’m interested in this. Anyone know where it was taken? I’m guessing York

Hello again,Volvo today lads.
Lets hope the driver of the F12 in the last pic wound up the legs on the trailer before hitting the road
Cheers Bubbs.
Nice pics marc, that Matthews F10 looks well.
Seeing as you are from Bristol area can you confirm there was a haulier from Bath called Keeling that ran AECs,green and red and always immaculate? I read somewhere that the old man used to wash all the units and trailers down on a sat afternoon when they were back in the yard. The trailers (I’m almost) sure had the name John? Keeling on the trailer chassis.A mate of mine says I’m getting mixed up with Keedwells and they were a different livery altogether, running Volvos IIRC.
Cheers,
Chris.
Hi Chris, yep mate you’re right about John Keeling,a very fussy person with his lorries,I went to his yard a couple of times to take a few photos but all the lorries were all parked nose in into a garage…He joined forces with CRW Transport to make CRW Keeling, thats what your mate is a bit confused with…ok
Hope this helps Chris.
Cheers Bubbs.
Spot on marc, thanks a million.I knew I was right and I’ll tell the old so and so so . The “F” reg Mandator was what I remembered all those years ago, always looked in good fettle. Thanks again pal.
Chris
I had a gaffer that used to make me wash off at the end of every week. Now thats not unusual and fair enough but he also insisted that we did it in winter and this is North Yorkshire right!
He didn’t like steam cleaners so we had to use a bog standard hosepipe which was frozen solid half the ■■■■ time and of course 10 minutes into the next run it was just as filthy again grrr. I didn’t mind come better weather but it was a cold and wet waste of time in winter.
Hi Lonewolf I had a boss used to have us in on Saturday mornings to wash of, he was so proud of my F86 he used to do it for me, how about that for a great boss, Then another boss so proud of his fleet spent more on washing down products than on wages, but we were all proud to drive them Norman Lewis trucks very rare to see a dirty one Cheers Mel
Hiya…Adams butter lorries was washed off after every trip. OK they had a rinse frame that come down around the lorry with chemical back up with
rince water back down with a clean agent back up with rince. The back doors and wheels needed a bit of help with a brush and hosepipe, not bad as the
driver did’nt do it. BUT a chap we called erk did.And it was for 20 years. Adams run 200 lorries at one time. The trunk motors was washed 3 times a
day in bad weather.

after trawling my photobucket account i found these.hope they are okay…
check out the classics getting loaded here…
lohr mark 5 was capable of carrying 12 large cars(yet to be beaten)although arguably modern, its old in the transporter industry nowadays…(taken on the a1 dunbar)
this time with volvos on board…
and now with citroens…
i know its been here before but anyway…
check out the “coffin” sleeper on the back of the cab…
this is the first “new” unit richard lawson group owned…
Hiya bubbs a couple more ive found. This AEC was a yard shunter in Chester its got a 10 speed Fuller gearbox and was nicer to drive than the
usual 6 speed…David Hopkins got her restored… she was within the last 6 AECs built they was Leylands after that.
This AEC was for sale in Byley in 1985… It then disapeared on a low loader where did it go ■■? someone tell us.
The Red and Green space cab was mine. I saw this converted 2800 at Heywood ind est there are many thing different was she a m/e motor
This Volvo replaced my spacecab it looks quite good but 4 nights out per week in a wendy house yuk!!! but the pay slip was exlent so i put up
with a not very useable truck… I did 650 000 kliks and only had brake drums and shoes it would not break down or go rotten if only the f 88 cab
was that good on the metal worm…The Volvo was 6 years old in this photo the last trip
John

The Anthony Mole Seddon 200 caught my eye amongst the Seddon pics, my Father worked for the then small company in the late Fifties driving a Bedford O Series, I recently replicated the little tipper below, it was also the first lorry I got behind the wheel of at the age of Six and had me hooked after that. The rather plain white cab of the Seddon doesn’t look as colourful as the earlier Maroon and Black (typical 50’s livery colours) fleet I remember although the tipper body remained Maroon. I believe the firm has gone now but was still around late Eighties/early Nineties, a lad living near to my home in Washington used to drive for them and I often saw his motor parked up. Dad always said it was a good firm to work for and it started him off on his life of civvie HGV driving after his Army service.
Hello everyone, nice pics added to the scrapbook by Frankie,John and Buck…keep 'um coming lads, another mixture today.
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs.
