No, we did, we did, just in awe of them
DAF I mean, not ERF’s
Good pictures again
How come there was so much opposition to Denby’s double trailer outfit recently when they were trialing these so long ago and why didn’t the ministry men stop Whitworths from leaving the depot just as they did with Denby and another question, if the double trailer test was so good how come it never took off? or did drivers not fancy having to paint so many wheels when things got quiet! Franky.
Aw I liked the DAFs, and the ERFs too.
Hi All
WE LUV DAFS Marc
As for twin trailers Eurohaul in Southampton ran 20’ PSKs & Tilts in the late 70’s arly 80’s mainly for work in London & Paris they had to run on their own in England but were joined up with a dolly to run from Le Harve down to Paris.
Hello then, lets have some pics of some Hitlers Revenges.

Hi were Perma Trans anything to do with ‘Swains of Stretton’ or ‘Lloyds of Ludlow’ or both as same colours■■?
Regards Pat
Hi Marc,
I like all the makes of lorries and the different bodies etc. Great pics, Ivor Duggan from this way ran quite a few Merc six wheeler tippers in the eighties through to the early nineties, since the he’s been running Foden’s,but as they are no longer made,he’s got a new Merc eight legger on the way, good lorries. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Dave.
can i just congratulate bubbleman and everyone who has contributed to this post.in my honest opinion its the best thread for me on tnuk.makes me wish in my last 20 odd years in the industry id taken photographs, which is something i"ve only recently started doing so cant really add any photos to this post for about another 10 years .
anyway,i think the photos and stories are fantastic, been looking through in my spare time, took me 3 weeks so far and im only up to page 26…
thanks again for a really enjoyable thread.
Hiya Bubbleman heres a few high milers LEEK / LONDON COLONEY trunk motors they could do 3 trips in 24 hours.three drivers of corse.
This is one of my all time favorite motors. I’am certain she was MRE581C I havent driven her since 1973 she had twin leadlights which was a ADAMS
BUTTER conversion for night driving.
The double box lorry is a twin stick 12 speed Leyland Beaver JRE966F
Heres my mate Daves F88 shes loaded for the 65th DD Anniversary at Normandy this year. They unloaded the (28MPH) Diamond Ts in Portsmouth to
go onto the ferry. They also returned home on the F88. The Volvo would have found her way around France as she was new to Aston Clinton Haulage.
John
The old twin sticks and today no sticks just some buttons I don’t know who would be most confused us old’uns with the buttons or the new boys with two gear sticks and no synchro or power steering
Hi ,first,to answer Pats question,Swains had something to do with Permatrans, not sure of the details but the Swains livery took over the Permatrans dark blue colour.Second thanks to Buck rogers for the kind comments and well done to 3300John for his Adams pics
Volvos today.
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs.

Another fabulous selection, Marc!
This would be the F86 now in Volvo’s museum in Gothenburg?
Hi, the AEC MkV Unit with 11.3 was a great, and as far as I’m concerned, the best Drivers motor pre. 1967 when the weight changes occurred, and before Leyland ruined AEC’s an act of spite as far as I’m concerned as their own products was such rubbish.
Tony.

I wonder if this is from Butlers quarry at Maltby that Tarmac went on to buy out ? I’d like to think it is !
Hello Marc,
Brilliant selection of Volvos! Taunton Meat’s 88 & Stuart’s 86 in particular. Which publications would these shots have come from?
Do you know of any other AE Stuarts photographs? I have seen the 88 with the Parkhouse step-frame box on page 1 of the Devon thread - another gem.
Thanks again,
Andrew Stone
