flatman001,

Thanks for those!

Great to see the Rowe Hillmaster. I believe Mr Duckett is still running today, unfourtunatley without the Hillmaster.

Would like to know whose Bison that was in the last image - Somerset plates.

All the best,

Andrew

Chris could this have been Trolene? It looks like a Norfolk company with a depot in Ipswich docks

Trolene Oil has been established since 1938. The company has now changed hands from its original owner and we are now incorporated with: Southern Counties Fuels.

Trolene was founded by Fred Taylor. After World War 2 Fred’s eldest son Dennis took the driving seat. Then in 1989 Fred’s youngest son Ralph took over the family business after spending many years in the commercial transport industry.

The H Jones tanker markings are interesting, Simple and effective

Like you I remember the other other names.

The Russian Belaz dumpers were being used by Arthur Duckett to help build the anti flood walls along the North Somerset coastline in the early 80’s. They did not comply with Construction & Use Regs and ran at 40 tonnes under special types and were only supposed to carry one large piece of stone. Other hauliers complained that sometimes his lorries carried more than one piece of stone for which he was fined £5,500.

That old atki borderer with the l/loader and elephant looks like one of william nuttalls of clifton m/c old motors.
regards dave.

Just had another carrier pigeon message from Bubbleman (Marcus).
He tells me it looks like it may be some time before he is back on the road he has had a number of people look at his computer and they cant solve the problem so it could be terminal :frowning:
He is also in the process of moving house over the next few weeks so would have been off line for a while anyway until his new broadband connection was up and running.

He sends his regards and says a big thank you to all of you who are keeping the flag flying and hopes to be back on line in the near future.

On another subject i never realised that Bassetts had a depot in Russia you learn something every day

It’s actually from a little further away than that, Dave: it was a brand new Borderer on the fleet of Munns Yellow Trucking of Kingston. No, not “-upon Hull”, nor even “-upon-Thames”, but Kingston Ja_mai_ca!!
