Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Wheel Nut:
What is it with women? I sat down and trawled through the first 16 pages of this thread again, and then she starts :stuck_out_tongue: She thinks I am enjoying myself, it must be because she brought me two cups of tea and they both went cold :stuck_out_tongue:

I have lifted some interesting pictures to me, local area and I may post them on a separate running thread if you don’t mind Marc.

Hi Malc,I found this in a book t’other day, thought you might like it if you haven’t already seen it.I remember AS Haulage from the 70s,have they pulled t’pin?
I’ve got a wife like yours. That’s why I ask for a glass of Bells, never goes cold, always supped.

Still around Chris, they take the name from Abbey Street Haulage but they moved into new premises.

a-s-haulage-hull.co.uk/index.html

They used to have a place in Goole too, but I think that has probably closed down since the docks are much quieter.

I cant explain the Anglo Caribbean link though :unamused: as we used to carry Russian timber for them.

I thought that registration rang a bell but I could be going slightly dyslexic

Well it’s nice to know some oldish firms are still going.I never asked what the “AS” stood for so now I know. That Anglo Caribbean headboard must have made some drivers dream of white beaches, white rum and black girls…and woke up in Saltend or Wincomlee (sp).
E23 RAG or E32 RAG - aye you could have got in the wrong motor.Dislexia rules,KO.

Bubbleman has sent me a message by carrier pigeon to inform me that due to all the pictures he has downloaded from his computer onto the scrapbook it has packed in. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

He will be off line for a while until he gets things sorted.

He said when he switches on his screen saver comes on and that is all.
No icons or internet connection nothing what so ever to click on just an empty screen.
He and a couple of friends have tried everything but to no avail.

So poor old Marcus is off the road at the moment with his wheels fallen off stuck in the VMU.

Regards Paul Anderson Northwest Trucks

Hi moomooland,
Can’t the rest of us keep his thread going for him,he has done a brilliant job on here,if we all post something each day, just a few lines or the odd pic, keep it going for Marc.
Cheers Dave.

Very sad, as long as he guards the collection from Mr’s Bubble and her bin liners, it will give me a chance to reread them all again, try it, there are bound to be some you missed. :stuck_out_tongue: Right back to page 16

Here’s a few…

Any guesses on year & nationality?

Same questions again!

Bleugh! A Foden!

Any guesses on the location? No prizes for identifying the livery!

Another Foden - how did that get in there?

Buffalo anyone? Pardon?? That’s what they used to say back then too!

There’s a few to be going on with!

Good on you 240 Gardner, nice lot of scrapbook pics there.
Cheers Dave.

You filled the boots well there 240, love the “plastic” Atki’s, always thought they looked the part :sunglasses:

OH NO, :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: what are we all going to do now  , I hope that Marcus’s computer gets well soon.
Can’t we start a SCANNER APPEAL or something to help him out, surely The Bubbleman has worn the old one out with all his brilliant posts over the last year or more.
I don’t know anything about these computer thingies so can you ask him MooMoo if he has checked the obvious on his old computer, battery leads are clean and tight, fuel filter is O.K., can he still remember the best way to use a starting handle  .

I always found a scaffold tube would make it work, put it in gear and rock it backwards and forwards

The ‘Plastic’ cabbed Atkis were released at the Melboune show in 1966. The sunkist foods fridge van was the first one on the road. With a bigger cab than the Pommie Atkis bigger motors and radiators could be fitted. Starting at the bottom end with a Gardner 6LXB with varios options including 8LX Gardner,8V71 Detroit,335 ■■■■■■■■ 340bhp Cat V8 right up to the 12V71 Detriot. With the big motors only fitted in twin steers due to front axle weight limits.
If your into old trucks the “Atkinson Down Under” book is a good 'un. Loads of info and b/w photos.

Cheers Jamie

Hi Jamie,
Nice pics of those Fodens, will keep a look out for that book.
Cheers Dave.

Bubbleman cut pictures out as a kid,but I have done it over the last 10 years as keeping the mags takes up too much space, unlike him though I cut of the captions. Recently I cropped them and resized them for a similar thread I had on another transport forum (TW), I will put some on till Bubbleman sorts his P C out.

Try this Marcus

Anyway here’s a few pics to help Bubb’s thread out I have posted some of these on the Southampton thread a long time ago.

Bakers Transport ERFs

Bakers ERF again but with a HMC badge (Hampshire Motor Company) Eric Baker used this name on his own make trailers!

The chap with the 8 legger Foden(William Sharp)looks a bit smug, I would think he should have about 12/15 tons on that Foden. Well I’ve done a few loads of
aggregate and unless thats burnt lime he must have 20+ tons on that old girl (poor thing)

JOHN.
PS where dose Bubble man live can we help■■? we must Know a expert in his area.

Bubbs, have you tried poking a screwdriver in the back of the computer :bulb: . It worked with a Bedford T.K. or was it a Ford D Series  . A screwdriver poked at the back of the starter motor sometimes got it going  .
